ok, the snow was all nice and fun but I am officially sick of it. Cant wait for all this shit to melt as quickly as possible. Hell I have had a tough time on the side streets my self, though I still manage to get everywhere and anywhere. The biggest problem though is all these idiots who either dont have their cars prepared are are just incapable of driving in the snow. You should see the side streets in east van, cars stuck and abandoned all over the place preventing people who can drive in the snow from being able to get anywhere. I would be lying though if I said that it wasnt fun riping it around with chains on all 4 tires and all 4 wheels engaged(just need a bit more lift so I dont plow the snow and then get stuck behind a mountain).

Van's weather is big news in Calgary as all the flights going from here to Van were canceled. I'm SO glad I decided to drive through the mountains when I did and not fly!

When did you drive and how was it? I have to make the same trek next week and I'm in a snow-less part of the continent right now so I'm not exactly sure what to expect.

I left the evening of the 23rd right before the newest snow in Vancouver. There was snow most of the way but just new stuff that was falling. It didn't slow me down that much at all as the roads had been nicely plowed and sanded.

The snow was supposed to change to rain... but it's still falling down as snow.

The temperature right now is 1.3 degree colder than what they predicted at this time. Seems like they delayed the transition to rain from "late afternoon" to "evening".

The snow during 1-3pm is heavier than daytime in Christmas Eve. The translink buses might have a lot of trouble, as #20 buses seem to be disappeared during my 30 minutes walk along Victoria drive

I saw city works crews here in Vancouver clearing off storm drains. I also saw a story from Seattle where works crews suggested that people clear off their local drains to prevent flooding.

Here in the west side of Vancouver it has stopped snowing in the last 30 mins.

It's generally not bad this year considering how much snow has fallen. I mean the amount of snow we have this year surpasses our record in 1945...

Translink apparently make an statement that commuters should avoid metrotown now, and shoppers should stay in the mall as the metrotown station in serious crowding issue

yah it usually only lasts 2 weeks at the most - hence why they never invest in snow clearing

plus athey leave sidewalks to home and business owners

most snow cities usually do the sidewalks - but i don;t think any LM cities have the equipment to deal with sidewalks

What 1945?
Many people forgot or too young to remember the blizzard of 1996:

http://archives.cbc.ca/on_this_day/12/28/
at that time bc transit buses could not even run for two days!
