^Thanks. I definitely overlooked that. I guess it shouldn't be long before they start putting up the exterior then.

Agreed, it seems very low for waterfront with rapid transit...

At least it's an improvement on what used to be there.

^True that. Though the densities should be totally fine for supporting rapid transit. This area will basically have "European-style" densities.

Here's a pic I took from basically the same angle:

Aren't there going to be higher densities projects around the village, like along Main St.?

The projects south of 1st Ave (the "private lands") will go to about 20 storeys.

Olympic Village menagarie | May 26th & June 12th

Thanks for those shots Officedweller.

Here are a few shots of the City's model of SEFC and the Olympic Village that I took at a recent CoV open house.

The open house was for the City's design for the public plaza. I took some shots of the illustrations/renders.

Also, some photos I took today, June 12th, of the Olympic Village.

The Olympic Village as seen from a speeding SkyTrain as it passes by the Cirque du Soleil tents. I wonder where they will set up once the park is eventually built on this site?

Thanks.

I also posted in the General Update thread a render of the big bulky building (with the alley bridge) shown in the upper right corner of your first pic.

It looks incredible SFU, and I can't wait for the designs of the other buildings in SEFC. Thanks for posting.

I love the height near the Main Street.

Hopefully, the industrial buildings south of SEFC will be redeveloped as well in the same way after all this is done.

Thanks, OD and SFU. That model of SEFC is fantastic. What a neighborhood it will be!

Do you think that the plaza in SEFC would be big enough for the Cirque du Soleil tents once it is finished? That would be nice if it was there, but perhaps too much proximity to the residents in the area?

Thanks a ton for the pics SFU and officedweller. Great stuff.

I love this building below. Isn't this one the social housing building? It's great either way. Vancouver needs more architecture like this. It's nothing groundbreaking but makes for amazing "background architecture" (as opposed to "punctuation marks"). I'd love to see a similar style applied to a typical ~30 storey (or taller) tower.

Looks like VIA, as posted by officedweller in the "general updates" thread:
