It looks like you were on the Lansing St. side. Did you try approaching from the loading dock to the building next door on Harrison? I've been able to get a good look from there.

Yep, I was. I was out during lunch hour it seemed. The rate this one is rising though, we won't have to find a good spot for long. It'll be visible from across the street soon!

Really? Don't you think 340 and especially 399 Fremont are far better, along with ORH? This building has already been panned by many as the most mediochre of all that is rising or soon to rise.

I'm a fan of the other two as well, especially 340 with its slim design. I think I have somewhat of a love affair with this one though. I think it has the right balance with the amount of glass, not too much and not too little. Plus, I've been wanting this one to go up for more than 5 years. They've teased us for so long and now its finally going up

Didn't need to find a spot next to the fence, you can see it coming out of street level. Soon it'll begin making its presence known

Wow, thanks Rem! Imagine what's going to happen to that gas station after the tower's completed. Another nightclub, maybe?

This one is flying! How long will the gas station stay around as they all seem to be disappearing?

i don't know, whoever owns that service station will have a dickens of a time developing it once that building is occupied. like, intelligence would order that they move to develop right away, before any sort of occupancy.

A plaza on that corner would be awesome. This area needs it badly. Rincon Green is fully fenced off, I don't even know how the public has access to it. It is very unfriendly and a huge disappointment IMO. Looks like a prison. All the traffic is also very difficult to deal with. A very awkward neighborhood. No wonder people want to live so high up above the mess below. No street trees, crumbling sidewalks, streets full of potholes and faded striping, derelict buildings everywhere. Still has a loooooong way to go.

I agree--it is not at all a desireable neighborhood! Even if and when it's improved at ground level, the traffic issues will always remain.

45 Lansing really looks like a rising giant behind the gas station in your photo.

a plaza there would just sit unused, better to get even more people living there - once it hits critical mass there, people will demand all the sorts of neighborhood safety amenities and traffic calming measures that everyone else does in other hoods. especially as the city improves the area around the convention center and folsom and howard joint the human race.

IIRC, one of the previous developers of 45 Lansing (entitlement has changed hands at least once) attempted to buy out the station owner years ago but was unsuccessful. I don't know why they wouldn't sell -- price, commitment to owning a gas station, other? -- but it would be nice if they would reconsider.
