Maybe concrete is still coming.

You can still see them closer to the door, just integrated into the concrete better now.

Or that the concrete went that way! If you hurry, you might catch it.

The development was only required to build concrete sidewalks until a certain point. That corner is not part of the contract so it falls on the city. I don't know if its a lack of concrete or lack of funds but the city seems hell bent on using asphalt for everything. Just look at how ridiculous these center medians look

^^In fairness they are 'temporary' for the streetcar ROW. If the streetcar were to go ahead any time soon everyone would be crying city waste if they spent a lot of money on the median.

I don't think the ROW is there, that's along Main St, the streetcar is meant to run on Quebec isn't it?

They could be temporary as that area was dug up within the last year to provide some buildings east of Main access to the SEFC Neighbourhood Energy Utility.

All you're 100% right. My bad.

Then they have no excuse, that's just garbage.

Maybe it's just the way until the construction is complete to avoid damage?

Doesn't the plan (not necessarily the most predictive I know) show treed medians on Main Street in that area? Maybe this is temporary until they redo all of the lower Main Street medians.

Hopefully. But Vancouver in general (even the "ceremonial street" median on Cambie) has pretty terrible medians.

Inside Jubilee House.

Why are kitchen cabinets placed so high these days?

Looks normal to me... maybe a few inches high?

Why don't they go to the ceiling is a bigger problem.

Upper cabinets look normal, about shoulder height.
Counter height looks low.

In my older 1993 built condo, the upper cabinets are about 8-10 inches lower than the exhaust fan hood.
There's about 18 inches between cabinet and counter.

As even a modestly tall guy 5' 11", I find that some kitchen cabinets come out uncomfortably close to face as I'm working on the countertop. I support the taller cabinet movement, at least certainly for primary kitchen work spaces.

I also feel a bit of schadenfreude for the residents of Telus Garden with their toaster oven-sized ovens, while residents of social housing will have normal sized appliances.

I wonder how much one of these spanking new government subsidised units is going to rent out for. Anyone knows?

A lot of hard-working people trying to make ends meet pay a lot for silverfish-infested walk-up co-ops rentals.

Block 100 would look so much better without those hideous hole punch grates over the windows/balconies. Hot mess.

Why would you eliminate the only bit of architectural variation it has? take that away and its just mundane and plain like most new mid rise buildings.

I went back and had a much closer look. They do indeed look like lights. But it looks like some holes were filled in. Also, in the last pic another look at how that corner paving is right now.
