Well another 2 weeks before I get to TO. It's been more than 5 years since my last trip. Excited to see the changes to my old haunts.

My old neighbourhood (Bloor and Ossington) is changed but want to see how much more. Only plan one day in TO ( just to meet up with friends) the rest in St Catharines area. But even so St Catharines has changed a lot in the last 5 years.

That is something. The climax of nightmares.

Those 6 storey wood buildings under construction burn just as nicely as 4 storey wood buildings under construction.

What's been their history once fully built, with (I assume) full fire protections and sprinkler systems?

The Regent Park redevelopment is really moving now with the next phase of construction, with demolition of most of the north end of the site.

At the north-west corner, a 25 floor building is rising, making for quite a difference in how that intersection feels.

I don't follow these incidents but, news does pop up from time to time. Complete and utter destruction seems to happen only under construction. The fire breaks sectioning off a structure of this girth contains the fire to that one section when the sprinkler system can't tamp it out fast enough.

A fire in which a sprinkler system is effective is unlikely to make main stream news. Can't say how many major fires have been prevented. However, OSB is a popular material and it doesn't like water. I imagine a sprinkler system unloading liters of water can cause significant structural damage too.

I'm not sure where to post this, Canada's Wonderland announced its new coaster for 2025 yesterday, and though it's been under construction since early March not much was known about it until yesterday's announcement.

That didn't last long for Playland to have the fastest launch coaster in Canada.

The soldier piles for the shoring is also mostly complete, they only have a few more piles left to go. They were also working on the lagging between the piles in a few places today. It looks as if the shoring is only going along the plaza's access road and the BMO parking lot/future commercial building, they have also installed some shoring along Fischer Hallman where the guy wires for the hydro poles are but the way the excavation is makes it impossible for any other shoring to be installed along Fischer Hallman or Bleams.
