UrbanYVR have an article on the proposed Lululemon headquarters on Foley Street in the False Creek Flats, including renders. It's another dramatic building for what was an undramatic area, designed by Morphosis Architects of Los Angeles and New York, and our local Francl Architecture.

The west side of it looks odd yet boring... and do they have to do this whole thing with intentionally carving their building on both the west and south sides around a giant tree? Are these trees already there and need to be preserved, or are these new trees they're doing for gimmick for this design?

There are trees on site. Without the plans it's not easy to see if these are existing trees - but they probably are.

The cutouts do mimic the shape and form of the Lululemon Logo sort of! Not sure that I like it so far but will have to see more detail design drawings and renderings to give my final opinion.

That one has been in the works for a couple years now. Shaw won't be vacating for at least 36months. Can't disclose anymore details at this point.

Logical progression - still a couple of sites along that stretch of GNW.

What a prime location, and should come online around the same time as the M-Line extension.

Too bad it's so close to the railway. Hard to create a village with only two blocks to work with.

VCC will eventually build out towards GNW and there is the SW corner of GNW & Clark.

Looks like the tower has funky sun shades that'll block views from the windows.

Wow, that looks great. The whole area is shaping up nicely! Too bad that MEC's headquarters turned out so underwhelming from outside.

The only downside of all of this is the added traffic on GNW and likely ever more traffic lights. Millenium Line extension cannot come to soon.

More lights just means more chances to stop and gaze at buildings!

1980 Foley Street – Lululemon Store Support Centre - Open House

1980 Foley Street – Lululemon Store Support Centre
It may sound silly, but I feel a little sad when Hannah and I discuss “splitting up” in order to cover multiple meetings. Simply put, after more than a decade together, I can’t imagine my life without her in it. I know that it’s dumb to get choked up about a single phrase, after all words can mean many things. That said, I never would have assumed Lululemon would describe their new headquarters as a “store support centre.”

This application was consider so beneficial to our city, city council voted to exempt it from the Broadway Plan’s interim rezoning freeze. That explains the high quality food, which consisted of chicken skewers, lemon meringue tarts, and several other hors d’oeuvres. Despite the roughly 45 people who came by the event, there was plenty left over. This was fortunate, since I was able to save some for my irritated partner, learned CHAPC meetings are apparently hard to find, and closed to the public after 6pm.

By Morphosis architects - that explains the funky design.

Note the sun shades on this project of theirs:
