So this will be roughly the same height as The Independent minus the rooftop penitentiary?

That top floor will be awesome to be in, but the building sure is boring. Those slots on top look like they're missing Tab B.

Reminds me of 60s architecture.

I was about to say, it has strong One Chase Manhattan vibes if that building were simplified.

To me this is gorgeous and clean.

Looks like a less interesting version of The Independent.

Sweet. More wildly overpriced shoeboxes-in-the-sky for the Californians to live in at the expense of a good chunk of what was a unique cohesive entertainment area.

Hurry up and Manhattanize the whole thing so we can become sterile AnyDowntown USA!

I like it. Mostly for adding to the new heights of New Rainey.

I really like it. It's sharp, crisp and handsome. Lot's of other towers are doing things that are a bit all over the place, the Modern keeps it clean. Ready for March!

Is it worth buying for investment in this with this high price?

I agree, it's gonna be a nice addition to the Rainey Street cluster.

Austin (Travis County) — A local developer has registered an architectural barrier project report with a state agency, giving notice of their groundbreaking date for The Modern Austin Residences, a 56-story tower on 90-92 Rainy Street.

The estimated cost of the project is $198 million, according to the TDLR filing. The report also states that construction is expected to commence on May 1 and be completed by March, 31, 2025.

Here's the whole TDRL filing. The Design Firm is listed as Page when previously it was Nelsen.

EDIT: I added the TDRL project search link to the Development Links & Webcams sticky thread.

55. The reason for floor count discrepancies in various documents or permits other than typos are that underground and/or mechanical levels are sometimes counted or the count may not be adjusted for missing a 13th floor. In this case there are two mechanical levels based on the approved elevations.
