IMO, all the other minor road interchanges should be like St. Anne's. Basic diamonds. More compact. Easier to understand and more consistent. None of the diverging diamond stuff. Consistency in anything is key.
Do you have a guess to when all 3 interchange projects will be completed by? Keeping in mind that if this were Alberta, all 3 would be done at the same time, but of course MB is nothing like Alberta.

I don't know anything more than is out there already.

From what we've heard, they want to run one project into another.

St. Mary's 2022-2025 ish
McGillivray 2025-2028 ish
St. Anne's after that.

Maybe they can get two projects going at once. Hoping so.

This of course comes at the delay of other projects due to lack of funding. Such as 1/16 interchange. Trans Canada twinning. Anything else really.

Only so much money to go around. As we discussed recently. Hopefully the Province can leverage Federal funding more efficiently in the future.

Alberta is in a much tougher position now to build new major substantial projects like ring roads for billions of dollars. In the boom years, you bet. They're having trouble, although being successful, in getting funding organized for other projects such as LRT extensions. They leverage the feds much better though.

I really hope they manage to fit in the planned ramp improvements for Wilkes a lot earlier than that schedule suggests. The work is essential 1-5 km of single lane, at grade new roads. Definitely less complicated than building a whole new overpass.

Also hopefully whatever is done at McGillivray accounts for McGillivray east of the Perimeter being expanded to a four lane divided road. That itself is another one that needs to be on the Provincial radar as the current divide road is almost to City limits.

McGillivray seems very underbuilt for the traffic and speeds it carries. Ideally it should be 4 lanes to Oak Bluff but at the very least they need to extend the twinning to Loudon and put up lights at Brady, McCreary and South Landing.

The McGillivray interchange ultimate design is 4 lanes. Can't remember what the interim plan is.

Interim = single three lane bridge.
Ultimate = two three lane bridge.

The ultimate design drawings show the bridges snug against one another so I can imagine the basic earthwork for the ultimate design might be done in the inital phase.

The three lanes in the initial stage is one lane thru plus the left turn lanes for each directions. Halfway through the bridge it switches the direction that has two lanes. Not sure if that made sense but here's the link to the pdf:

Thanks for sharing.

McGillivray widening to 4 lanes at ultimate stage is to the north side of existing. Which aligns with what we're seeing on Mcgillivray at the City limits.

With at least five highway builds/upgrades in the Winnipeg capital region we really need to see the Province start working on that in addition to the work on the Perimeter.

Heck it has been almost 10 years now since the fancy CentrePort interchange was built and the Headingley bypass route is still not even on the radar.

The ultimate stage is at least 30 years out. So no worries there haha

Maybe the RM pushes for something sooner, if it's needed.

I drive the section of 1 West all the time and that bypass is sorely needed. I really would have expected to have been completed by now. It's not the traffic, per se, but the speed limit and (what I find to be) to excessive red lights.

On a side note, has anybody noticed that the city seems to have a problem with keeping up with repainting lane lines?

The bypass was basically cancelled by the Conservatives. Permanent hold maybe the better term.

Yes! The other night on Main St. I couldn't tell where they were at all.

I recall reading somewhere the lines don't last as long as before due to the paint now being environmentally friendly and not having the same base as the older paint.

IIRC the City only has one crew to paint the lines. So ya.

Edit: yup

Free Press did an interesting article on how the lines are in 2015. Still probably the same process now. One thing I did not know is they only paint 4 shifts a week. Probably 9 or 10 hour shifts.

Did they get the west perimeter service road and rockall road built this summer? Haven’t been in that area recently.

Rockall Rd is under construction and will be for 2022. The west Perimeter Service Rd wont start construction till 2023-2024.

The service road being the part from Wilkes heading southwards?

I'm surprised CN agreed to another crossing on the Rivers Sub. That's a busy stretch of track. Or maybe they didn't and that's the delay in the service road part? I'm not up to speed on what's what over there.

Also that detour in the Harte trail is such a crock of shit. Put up a ped bridge.

Yes, basically from Wilkes to Oak Bluff.
