They have done similar things in Ontario to the Evergreen Line video you posted. I know they have utilized rapid bridge replacement in Ottawa on the 417 which is similar, though not identical, and just recently in Toronto they installed a bridge for Strachan to run over a newly lowered Georgetown Line using a very similar method.

I haven't been a daily commuter the past year, but a couple months ago went through from Union to the PATH and they had just opened the new subway entrance.

It is a mess, but having so many more doors available was amazing - I had missed rush hour but it must make a big difference. That was always a huge bottleneck (worse in bad weather when more people tried to funnel through there)

Meh, I don't have any pity for people driving in the city and not expecting it to be busy. Have you ever commuted through Union though? It's an absolute nightmare. It's getting better now with the new entrance to the subway station/PATH being more than 3 doors for hundreds of thousands of commuters, but still a nightmare.

EDIT: ScreamingViking already said exactly what I did in the 2nd part of my comment.

Another shot from today of the Union Station reno, with the new canopy U/C behind the station:

Also shows more of the carnage that is Front Street and the entrance to the Royal York.

Fantastic news for Winnipeg!

The province and city have reached an agreement to fund the second phase of rapid transit to the University of Manitoba.

WINNIPEG — The wheels are finally moving on the second phase of rapid transit.

After months of going back and forth, the province and the City of Winnipeg have reached a funding agreement for the $600-million project.

“It is going to address sewage problems, the ability to move traffic in terms of vehicles,” said Premier Greg Selinger. “It will have good rapid transit and it’s going to have active transportation.”

The plan will see the Manitoba government and the city each pay $225 million with the hope Ottawa will pitch in the remaining $150 million.

Those new Metro cars look very nice. Will they be run at faster speeds than the current ones?

^ Even if they had the capability to run at faster speeds, they wouldn't do so in operation because of timing issues with older models.

I heard that the top speed would be 78 km/h which is basically the same as the current 72 km/h...

I was surprised by the speed in the video because the train is in Bombardier's shop in La Pocatière, meaning they had to be heading outside on the test track at that speed!

Brentwood Station is my favorite in the whole system. I also love the Spartan look of the Canada Line Subway Stations.

I definitely have to make a trip back to Montreal to ride those new Metro trains when they go into service. What line will they be placed onto to start?

No, they'll put the new ones on the orange line first and will transfer the trains that are on the orange line to the green line.

Yeah, I would have guessed the orange line based on how Toronto also puts the newest subway trains on the Yonge line (with the newest trains) so that they can step everything down and retire the oldest ones. Unfortunately my friends in Montreal live either at Verdun or Pie-IX so I don't have to get to the orange line too much...
