I don't even know how to respond..what a colossal waste of prime land that would be.

In other news...Izzy is performing live at the stage on the Oval tonight. Cool concept. Hopefully there's a good turnout...it is freezing out there.

Maybe they are same dozen or so people who seem to think that Canada street is a curb side parking spot. They are waiting for that parking garage to open up and be the first to get in.

Every event that I've seen so far, they are a dozen or so cars parking RIGHT ON CANADA STREET. And no one is issuing parking tickets. Why not just park in the middle of the center lane on Main street?

With Bryan Adams concert tonight , I believe it will be avenir centers biggest test from the general publics point of view . Here are few things to watch:

-parking situation around downtown and sidewalks a couple days after a storm.

-the wait time to get inside , are they going to open more gates so people don’t have to wait too long in the cold . ( I hope they have a plan to speed thing up , how it goes tonight and the word of mouth could determine the future for lots on attending winter events at the center ).

Anyways if anyone did attend tonight or drove around, I would like to hear what you saw .

Most of your questions have already been answered from a Friday night sold out Moncton Wildcats game and Tuesday night sold out Keith Urban show. Parking not an issue, sidewalks cleared pretty quickly, entrance pretty much none issue.

I dropped off my sister and her hubby at 7:15 and there was average a dozen or so waiting at street corners to cross the road. Line up at the door was pretty much none existing.

I went to the concert last night. I'm not all that familiar with the city, and this was my first time inside the Avenir Centre. since I'm unaware of parking locations downtown I parked at the mall and hopped on the blue line.

I Was a bit delayed getting into Moncton because of the storm, but got inside just a couple minutes after 8pm, and there was literally nobody waiting to get inside the venue

They had 3 or 4 blue line buses waiting outside when I walked out, and there wasn't any charge.

Concert was great and I have no complaints whatsoever.

I think security lines were probably the biggest concern going into last night, given the cold temperatures. But it seems that through a combination of customer education, trial and error with Wildcat games (and other large events like figure skating and Keith urban) and quicker security staff they've resolved all of the earlier complaints that we've been seeing. For the most part I literally added no difference in time to get into the Avenir Centre compared to the coliseum.

The coliseum only had a couple of doors to enter through, with the main doors being a complete mess as they ran through the box office lines. I'd say I waited far longer on some occasions getting into the coliseum than the avenir centre, even with no security check.

I was there last night. We went through the doors right at 7 (doors opened at 6:30, show started at 8) and lineups were non-existent. Not one person in front of us. I was a little worried about parking after reading all of the comments on here in the past, but we just parked directly behind the Avenir Centre, in the parking lots between the Centre & the train station. There was all kinds of parking there. It cost $10 but well worth it, especially on a cold night like last night to be less then a 2 minute walk to the front door.

The roads were terrible! From PEI to Cap Pele the roads were perfect, but the highway from there to Moncton was brutal! And the streets in the city weren't much better! Bryan put on an excellent performance as always! Sound was great, crowd was VERY loud...couldn't ask for a better first experience at the Avenir Centre. Hoping for lots more to come!

Stayed at the Delta on Saturday night, since my wife had a event to go to there and attended my first wildcats game at the new downtown arena . Very nice arena, had a great time. Just a cold walk back to the hotel.

Anyone try the buffet before the game I haven't heard on how it was. After spending 21$ on food I figured I probably should have ate there for 3$ more lol

One of the many positive spinoffs of the Avenir Centre that is often overlooked , is the time that tours spend rehearsing in our City before launching their Canadian tours . This weekend , the Blue Man Group arrived in our City in advance of their performances this Thursday, Friday and Saturday ( 2 shows ) . Keith Urban and Bryan Adams are just two more examples of tours that spent a few days in Moncton before heading out on the road across Canada .

Are ticketmasters scalper subsidiaries striking again?

I've been watching ticket sales for blue man group incredibly closley since December. I have tickets for Saturday at 8pm which is the best selling of the shows. The floor has been listed with no availability until today when suddenly rows of tickets are showing up. As usual the last minute tickets showing up are the standard blue ticketmaster tickets and no "verified resale". Likely this is because the other company is able to flip the tickets back onto the ticketmaster website and make it appear as if they were not just on "scalperseats.com" for double the price. Not something an actual consumer can do. This allows them to scalp tickets with next to no risk taken.

Unless I am missing some other details this continues to make me shake my head. I am not really sure what can even be done as ticketmaster seems like an invincible entity. This has happened for every large show, I watch ticket sales for almost every concert and event out of my own interest in whats selling well and ticketmasters behaviour.

The only things I could see is:
1: Companies stop using Ticketmaster all together (wont happen)
2: More rules, and regulations to stop them from committing such actions. (possibility but probably wont happen without a big push)

The commissioner of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League makes it clear that Moncton is in better position than ever before to host high-profile hockey events.

"That's for sure, no doubt about it," said Gilles Courteau. "Moncton has an outstanding new building and they meet all the criteria. They have everything in place here to put a bid forward for events like the Memorial Cup, the Canadian Hockey League Top Prospects Game, the CIBC Canada-Russia Series and the draft."

The City of Moncton would like to co-host the World Junior Hockey Championship at some point in the future.

"We would certainly be very interested in doing that with Halifax," said Turner. "That would be logical. We feel that working with a strong partner we could put in a good bid."

As far as the World Juniors go I see this as viable. Saskatoon and Regina co-hosted back in 2010 with about the same amount of distance between the two cities and about 500k people between the two as well. 2024,2026,2028 and 2031 are all taking place in Canada so I hope we could get a bid in for one of these events.
