I would say: Yes. BUT...the design and renderings have changed quite a bit over the years. I can't believe the first post on this thread was from 2015...WTF!
That said, as elements got VE'd it's hard not to remember what it could have been. I'd also posit that renderings
always put forth idealistic - if not sometimes impossible - conditions (lighting, texture, perspective, etc.) that ensure the building looks as good as it possibly can from a few key angles. I've been asked to recreate renderings via photographs and it's sometimes impossible due to a variety of factors.
I know it will come together nicely once the setbacks are complete and the curtain wall creates the alternating texture up top. But, personally, I feel like the aluminum cladding is lacking a bit of character - I wish it were a bit warmer in tone, I think. At the same time, those stark vertical lines are somewhat unique in this area of the lakefront and do reference AON nicely in the background.
