A white tower crane has been installed for the new affordable housing downtown.

Rendering of what the project will look like once completed.

416 Congress

Dick Clark and Associates have some concept art for the proposed hotel at 416 Congress. An interesting, very skinny (flat/shallow)building by the looks of it, but a nice height of about 26 floors.

I think 416 Congress was cancelled. Well, cut down to 9-floors.

The city continues to list that hotel as an emerging project for some reason even though it has been dead for over a year.

Declared dead on Skyscraper Page Forum doesn't necessarily make it so.

It wasn't arbitrarily declared dead by SSP Forumers. Two years ago East7thStreet posted the link below listing the property for sale. This project seems like another case of a developer (i.e., T. Stacy) trying to flip a piece of land after gaining development entitlements. The only good thing about this is the original site plan for a 26-story hotel is still good through 11/2014.

Austin Four Seasons Hotel plans major renovations in 2014

Jan BuchholzStaff Writer- Austin Business Journal

http://www.bizjournals.com/austin/bl...ans-major.html

Found the last sentence interesting....

"The Fairmont Hotel Austin likely will break ground early in 2014."

I guess a January ground breaking may not happen after all. Hopefully this gets built but I'm cautiously optimistic with each delay.

It could also just be wording. January is technically early 2014.

Maybe an extra 500ft is pushing it but I think the structural support of the tower could support an extra 100- 200 ft.
