thats not a helpful response. why would the actual architect not display the updated and supposedly downgraded design?

this drama is a nothingburger until we see it underway and the final design.

i mean, look at it this way, worst case in the end it could be value engineered even more so for all we know.

If this is essentially the final version, it's utterly iconic, and there is not a single city that wouldn't love to have it.

It's good to be back to making these!

Updated one of my older renderings to show the design from the presentation:

What a masterful representation of our forthcoming icon! You’re the man, Xing!

P.S.: Can you add 350 Park.

Thanks ChiND! 350 Park would be far off the right edge of the photo here, I unfortunately don't have any photos to work with from this view that would fit both proposals.

Thanks, Xing. You are the Michelangelo of renderings!

Agreed, I would love my city to have just the top set-back of this project.

The office tower at 450 Lexington Ave. has a lot going for it, starting with a stellar location next to Grand Central Terminal and 1 million square feet that are fully occupied.

But the cost of keeping this skyscraper competitive is reaching stratospheric heights.

… RXR is understood to be close to beginning development of a supertall tower at 175 Park Ave. Even so, the cost of keeping its 30 million square-foot commercial portfolio is reaching uncomfortable levels.

Today's (2/25/26) Bisnow article on 2 WTC states that "RXR and TF Cornerstone hope to kick off construction on a 2.9M SF office tower at 175 Park Ave. in June."

Does anyone have any more information? Is the hotel on the site closed?

The hotel isn't closed, but they've targeted June as a begin date.

RXR
Project Executive

RXR, in partnership with TF Cornerstone, is seeking a Project Executive to support the owner's team delivering 175 Park Avenue—a ~3 million SF mixed-use, transit-integrated tower adjacent to Grand Central Terminal (office, ultra-luxury hotel, amenities, and major transit improvements).

Overall responsibility will be to coordinate daily with the design team and provide oversight and direction to the Construction Manager while managing scope, schedule, budget, risk, and reporting across assigned phases of work.

The Project Executive will be responsible for distinct phases of work including: utility relocations, existing Hyatt demolition, foundations and excavations, below grade infrastructure, on-site and off-site transit improvements and site logistics/protection for the life of the project.

The Project Executive reports to the Vice President and ensures that work is completed on time, within budget and to the highest quality. In this role, the Project Executive will oversee a Senior Project Manager and Senior Field Superintendent.
Quote:
Project leadership and delivery

-Manage and Oversee the Senior Project Manager and Field Superintendent

-Manage assigned phases from pre-construction through close-out (planning, procurement, construction, and turnover).

-Develop and maintain work plans, look-aheads, schedules, and milestone tracking; validate progress and drive corrective action.

-Run recurring meetings with clear agendas, decisions, and action items; ensure timely meeting minutes and follow-up actions are published.

-Take ownership and manage key project logs (RFIs, submittals, design clarifications, action items) to drive timely decisions.

-Coordinate with design teams, consultants, and inspectors to maintain schedule and quality objectives.

-Prepare clear status reporting for the construction and development leadership team (progress, risks, mitigations, and decisions needed).

-Coordinate with tenant/anchor teams to align base-building readiness, logistics, and turnover requirements (as applicable).

Transit and agency coordination

-Interface daily with MTA/New York City Transit stakeholders (including Metro-North); align work plans with agency review and approval requirements.

-Coordinate stakeholder working sessions to align phasing, logistics, and operational constraints with the overall project schedule.

-Establish effective communication channels and escalation paths among agencies, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders.

Maybe someone from SSP will get the job and give us the daily scoop.

The next few months will see 2 WTC, 175 Park and 350 Park move forward. Exciting times!

There's a good chance we could see 15 Penn join that discussion. If that happens, Foster will have 3 supertall office towers under construction after just finishing 270 Park. And we don't know how tall 625 Madison will be. Exciting times for sure.
