The heights have been all over the place for this building, I’ve seen 851’, 858’, 875’ and now 879’

I wouldn't be surprised if there are several "official" figures, according to each contractor. Concrete contractors sometimes report based on the highest pour, not including any additional mechanical or screening elements.

I believe 400 LSD has ~2 stories of glass screening / crown, supported by steel, above the highest concrete level. This is how One Chicago and the Salesforce Tower's crowns were built-- the hollow interior space hosts HVAC equipment and the BMU. If we assume 12 ft per story, that's the exact difference between the 851' figure and the 875' figure.

Who knows if that's the reason behind these fluctuating heights, but that's my best guess. Frankly, the difference between them is invisible to the eye-- when it comes to objects this large, their apparent relative scale is more affected by distance! Unless you have a mega uber zoom lens or binoculars

Great shot. Would Parcel I slot nicely in that gap between OBP and St Regis? Or clustered more behind OBP and this tower?

I think from that angle it would be in between, unless I'm underestimating how close Parcel I is to the water on the other side of the river mouth.

I also think Tribune East would be between Vista and Hancock I think and look epic there.

Nice pics! It's looking great from this angle-- rises nicely above 400 E Randolph and continues its white vertical lines.

As it gets taller and pointier it's definitely becoming a nice counter to some of the huge blocky towers over there (BCBS tower especially)

Even a few extra floors would make a nice difference here, I hope the 879' rumors are true but I guess it doesn't matter much.

May as well go out with a bang since nothing is on the horizon skyscraper wise.

Nice shots. Has anyone else noticed the slowdown in facade installation since hitting the setback zone?

Took some crummy phone pics today!

Hard to tell from these grainy pics, but the corner cladding pieces are much thicker than the pieces between the bay windows-- as the setbacks get their cladding, it'll form a nice crisp outline. Should be cool!

Great photos!

It's nice to see the setbacks taking shape. They look nice but it definitely seems like they reduced the number of setbacks and/or condensed the setbacks further up the tower to create more typical floors within the main shaft of the tower.

Either way, exciting to see it coming together!
