Woke up to sun, knowing the forecast is for 15+C today last I checked. Happy. Then thought I could see frost in the garden.

Sure enough, MINUS 1.3C at my place at sunrise. Ffs lol

Edit: Still. Sun!

17C and a light rainshower in Moncton at noontime. There will be steadier rain this afternoon.

Another dismal wet grey day in Vancouver. This is the worst May I remain many years.

Yeah. It's been a proper "Wet Coast" spring. My last two springs back haven't been nearly this rainy and wet.

I'm cool with it though. The air is floral and super fresh. Also, the dry season is coming, so all of this water is needed.

The wet May in Vancouver is like our wet April. Just got off a call with my team and a colleague in Vancouver said it's been brutal. We start hitting the road in May every year and she's normally done a bunch of visits by now but has had to postpone.

This year also has the most lawns I can remember being overgrown. My neighbour included. There's so many lawns when I drive by that have dandelions as tall as up to my knees. I don't know if all the moisture in April had anything to do with it.

The professional organization I belong to (American Roentgen Ray Society) has it's annual meeting in May. The meeting was in Vancouver about 12 years ago, and it rained every day. About three years later, the meeting was in Toronto, and it was cold and wet the whole week. It even snowed one day.

They haven't been back to Canada since, but, have held the meeting in Hawaii (twice), as well as San Diego and Orlando. They're going back to San Diego next year.........

Before I start complaining about the rain (continuing for at least the next week), I just gotta remember what I said last year when we started getting early forest fires: rain & cold is better than fire & smoke.

Still, this is one thing I definitely prefer about Ontario's climate to BC's: while the total amount of rainfall is fairly similar, it's spread more evenly throughout the year there, versus the alternating periods of endless rain or crispy drought that we tend get here.

It's not that bad, I think we've had lots of nice weather, and everyone I talk to thinks we need more rain anyway.

The sun is shining right now.

21C with a humidex of 24 and a mix of sun and clouds. Another relatively windy day. Cannot complain though. Been awesome second half of the month. 14 out of the last 15 days have been above 20C and the day that wasn't was above 19C. Judging by the forecast we can make it 29 out of 30 by mid June. After that those days become pretty automatic no matter how cool it is.

Low of 18C this morning.

The warmspot was Rosetown, SK at 28.7C.

Warmest low was Montreal YUL at 15.7C.

Up until 10 days ago BC was actually having more sunshine and drier conditions than normal this spring.

It's only been the last 10 days that have sucked. It's interesting how that 10 day period has now equated to the entire spring in many people's minds.

There hasn't been that much precipitation, here's a chart showing data since February.

Yeah, you can see in that graph that until around the 18th May was actually being really nice.

Beautiful day... that is if you were at Coal Harbour about 4:30 PM looking south.
The rest of the day was mostly cloudy with scattered showers.

Tuesday's high at Vancouver Harbour was 16 C, the low was 11 C.

19C and sunny in Moncton at 10 AM, with an expected high of 22 C.

We get virtually no precipitation in Moncton from the front that passed through yesterday. Other parts of the Maritimes got 25-40 mm.

The upcoming 7 day forecast period is wall to wall sunshine. It could get very dry around here........

Fog, cold, drips of rain every now and then. Big change from yesterday.

When it's been raining, it's not that light west coast rain though. There have been a few days of proper downpours. It's been chillier too. We haven't had that many warm days this spring.

It rained the entire week I was in Edmonton, so I'm sure that added to the rainy spring feeling.

Again, I don't mind. I've come to appreciate a cool spring.
