And here's another

Atlanta Hall Management also has an agreement with ESPN, which will provide content and be a media partner of the Hall of Fame, Robinson said.

As part of the agreement with ESPN, a broadcast facility will be part of the building.

Build it, and QUICK, before the naysayers say we copied it

Here's yet another article about it:

Details Unveiled for College Football Hall of Fame

Here's an interesting note from the AJC article, posted a few comments above this one:

Quote:
The state bonds are for land acquisition and improvements. Stokan said the plan is to use the bonds to extend Baker Street, close Foundry Street and build a connection between the hall and the GWCC's Building A.
Extend Baker how far, I wonder?

Lots of good news today. Any chance the Georgia Music Hall of Fame moves to Centennial Park instead of north of town?

Of all the talk about "originality" and "trying to hard", I think Stokan et al scored a touchdown with this one (yes, punn intended). The first thing I thought of when I read the article was about how much they are doing this right - proximity to the Dome, connectivity to GWCC, partnering with ESPN, TVs to watch live college football, grand opening during the NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four.

This would be just another really good attraction to go in that area and I can't imagine it wouldn't spur even more development (i.e. hotels, restaurants, bars) over the next couple of years and I would absolutely make a point to go to it along with everything else that is already down there .

It sounds like a definite winner...the current Hall in South Bend is okay, but it's not very exciting. This one sounds like just the opposite.

micropundit is on a roll. That video is AWESOME! This is going to be even better than I initially thought, I didnt think that was possible. And for all the people that complain about parking, it will net 25 MORE parking spots than what's there right now. This, plus what has been built on that stretch recently is going to make for a really nice corridor. They've been tearing up the sidewalks for improvements recently as well; signs say it'll be finished late summer next year. I imagine the addition of the CFHF will spur even more development in the area.
Now they just need to do 2 things. 1 - Build something on the gravel lot behind the Embassy Suits, and 2 do something with the Phillips Parking deck. That should be a prime time corner with CNN/Omni anchoring one corner, and Centennial on the other.

Bingo. That (terrible excuse for a) Chinese restaurant beneath the Philips sign closed a few months ago, and that entire block is begging to be (re-)developed. Just imagine a 4-story ESPN Zone there (with much better food, many more HUGE TV's, and without the pointless games upstairs ... is that even an ESPN Zone anymore?)

On second thought, don't imagine that. It'll just make your head explode.

(I'm aware that STATS is right down the street, but they laughably bill themselves as a "sports restaurant," and the amazing seating design is ruined by a terrible menu. I want a real 4-story sports bar where you can actually wear a cap and jersey, not to mention get decent food and wings, which immediately rules out Taco Mac, for that matter.)

College Football Hall of Fame

The video shows a building that is going to be very impressive. Great location. Now, if we can get the Civil/Human Rights museum going, we'll be looking at an absolutely world class collection of attractions.

I'm actually most excited about the Health Museum (or whatever it is actually called) - haven't seen any renderings yet, but Moshe Safdie probably won't disappoint. Could be a really iconic addition to the set of (less than inspirational) buildings around COP.

Current weather: snow shower (though I'm not seeing any), 28 degrees, winds gusting to 35 mph, wind chill of 15. 2 more days of this.

Global warming is just killing us this year LoL.

That's a microcosmic way of looking at it. So if you do look at that way, let's not forget how much warmer just this past Spring and Summer was. Especially the Spring which was much warmer than normal. And the Summer in which the highs seldom fell below the 90s.

Yes, there's also a difference between weather and climate.

Back to the topic!

When did the question "so how bout that weather" become so politically charged?
