the white parts will be IMPs, and the grey parts are going to be precast concrete.

this thing looks like a piece of shit on paper and will look worse when built

(also, it's great to see that the renderings on the initial building show some sort of screen on the balcony spaces, which they still half a decade later haven't installed...)

Smooth, grey precast concrete. Lovely. It's like a new Radisson.

That looks like the place where Putin is keeping Alexei Navalny.

Absolutely horrendous. And at one of the most prominent intersections in the city. Who would've thought the white building would end up being the better part of this development.

That just shouldn’t be allowed on a prominent area or intersection period , I don’t know how some of this stuff gets approved with no concern for architectural design at all . I am sure Russia has nicer commie block designs than this !

If it was all-grey, people would be cheering.

Bork is correct and viking is either completely wrong or unintentionally misleading. The building was always meant to have a perforated metal screen on the front and top corner balcony. I highly doubt anyone told him that it was complete or intended to be an 'architectural flourish.'

I suspect they completely ran out of cash. The soffits above O Station Cafe and Bibi Barber on the ground floor are also unfinished.

https://www.winnipegfreepress.com/bu...et-development

Article says there was an ownership change and the former ownership group ran out of money. I suspect they just didn't finish the building to 100% completion before getting some tenants in and then let it sit for way too long before they ran out of money.

Might be ok if this were another Remand centre? BTW..
Even the Remand centre downtown is brighter and cheerier looking than this.
What a horrendous look for us to be punished by not to mention when tourists come and laugh.
I think this is worse than The Radisson.

^ The Radisson has architectural merit, but that building does not. I mean, at least it uses some prime space efficiently, but no one would ever call that thing beautiful.

The Remand Centre is actually quite nice, it was designed by Etienne Gaboury. I'm sure many passers-by think it houses a government department, an insurance company or some other such prestigious purpose
