Also, is there any sidewalk on Mapleton north of Northwood at all? Streetview was last in the area in 2021, and there was none, but the diagram shows sidewalk on the east side. I can't imagine they installed too much of it, and if they did, where did it end? Reginald?
Yeah, sidewalk already installed on the east side of Mapleton up to Reginald.

Oh joy, another double lane roundabout that some people don't know how to use. Head on a swivel.

Halifax Retales is reporting that the IHOP in Halifax is closing.

I wonder what this means for our IHOP out by the casino at Magnetic Hill, especially with the imminent arrival of Denny's???

I think our IHOP has a better location and more visibility than their location in Halifax did (in the suburban wilderness off of Larry Uteck, on the wrong side of the Bi-Hi).

Still, our IHOP is only intermittently busy (usually in the mornings on the weekends). Has this been a failed experiment by Corey Craig???

Lots of DOT people in hard hats and bright vests busily surveying plans and hammering in stakes out at the Mapleton interchange. Construction is imminent!

Signage has appeared in front of the strip mall on Mountain Road, next to Wheeler Blvd., where St. Louis Bar & Grill is located, proclaiming "Philthy Philly's, opening soon".

https://philthyphillys.com/

A quick look at their website confirms that a Moncton location is "coming soon."

Freddy had one open up a few months ago. It's okay; but probably not a place I'll visit often. Still, new chains and new restaurants (especially new varieties of restaurants) is always a good sign.

Good place for a Dollar Tree. A contact has advised me that Blueberry (the commercial agent working with Dollar Tree) is furiously scouting all the strip malls in metro looking for the best spots to set up business.

The Old Fashion Meat Market in Valhalla Place on Mountain Road has expanded into the adjacent vacant CRU, effectively doubling it's size.

Valhalla Place is now at 100% occupancy.

I had a closer look at the signage today, and it said "meat market, deli, produce", so, while expanding their footprint, I am also assuming they are increasing their product offerings.

I dont understand the infatuation with roundabouts. They definitely have their place but that isnt one of them in my opinion. Same can be said for the dog bone. That one is a disaster especially for trucks. Forget about getting off the 15 at rush hour. Youre backed up onto the highway just trying to get to it some days. I know Mapleton gets like that now but i dont see how this roundabout changes anything.

The city could really use another good quality deli. Fingers crossed.

Welcome to the forum!

I have not been in the meat market since the renovations and expansion began, so, I am not sure how far along they are in the expansion project. A good deli would certainly be an excellent addition to the north end.

Interesting to see what the produce section will be like as well.

Currently cheaters are driving on the shoulder to turn right and u around in the hotel, and when they exit from the hotel they are on Mapleton and have the right of way stopping others who were waiting longer from turning left off the off ramp. At least with a circle anyone trying that will have to yield to people who are exiting the highway.

Two notes (from driving in to work today):

- Norm's Pizza in the Lounsbury Centre on Mountain Road is now Bravo Pizza

- Sysco was doing a delivery to the Wendy's on Mountain Road. Reopening following forklift upgrade must be imminent.

This roundabout will immensely improve this intersection. Currently it is busy because people on the ramp have to wait for people approaching the intersection to finish their turn on the the ramp. With the new roundabout, cars will be able to enter the roundabout before the approaching cars reach the intersection, thus improving traffic flow. They will also be realigning Queensway & northwood road.

The westbound offramp at the Mapleton interchange on the TCH is now closed as work begins on the new roundabout. Traffic is being diverted to the Gorge Road exit.

New interior renovations are occurring in the former NB Tel building on Mapleton Road. It appears CBRE is moving in (to join EXP Engineering as a tenant in the building).

CBRE currently has an office downtown in the National Bank Building.

As far as im concerned it is the exact same scenario as Dieppe blvd and the 15. For the westbound traffic on the 15 exiting at Dieppe blvd its still a nightmare especially at peak times. I think it will be the same at Mapleton.

There is a big difference. On mapleton the main traffic flow is off the exit heading south and onto the exit heading west. On Harrisville/Dieppe the traffic is coming on and off the exits as well as along the main road. At Mapleton there is very little traffic going north through this intersection, freeing up the intersection for use by the cars coming off the highway. There will also be a traffic light on the south ramps, giving a break in the traffic that Dieppe also doesn’t have. Pretty different situations really.
