^ Looks like the first panels of the second type of glass are going up. The structural expression looks pretty strong.

Last time we saw the top level being built was 69 so we still need 70, 71, 72, and 73, so 4 more levels left plus the crown and spire

It looks to me as if the rebar cage they put in place is the top of the building roof wise?

I am trying to figure that out. The 69th level is the last hotel floor at 11'6'' 70 - 73 are taller floors. These cages have cut outs for two floors spaced much farther apart. I'm thinking these are 70 and 71

You're right. The last core floor visible is 65 I believe. Doesn't look like 8 floors to the top of the rebar looks more like 6

^^ I think they have one more core jump left, then the core will be topped out. The roof deck of the tower should be more or less even with the black cladding on the nearby AON Tower. The WG fact sheet shows the pool deck at 827', or thereabouts.

I have seen the pool level between 827' and 841' The Turner Construction website has the construction camera views for this project.

They are working fast on the curtain wall. It definitely was a victim of Valued Engineering.

For frame of reference, AON tops out at 858'. Use that however you wish.

Im guessing that may be the measurement from the floor of level 72 (827') to the 'ceiling" at 841'. The 72 floor consists of the outdoor deck, and the interior portion contained in the base of the crown "sail" feature. Im just speculating here.
Oh, and the glass going up now looks exactly like the renders, so I don't see what 'value engineering' you are referencing Suarez.

I meant that the renders show the curtain wall panels inset, with the columns exposed (steel clad with metal panel) but instead they went with the curtain wall panel containing a firred out panel in front of the columns and bracing. The detailing might have been too custom/expensive as shown in the renders.

I suppose. But just as with the Courthouse, I'm going to wait until the tower is done, then see how it looks. But good lookin out. I hope they don't value engineer it. The one thing with these Korean and Chinese developers, they have been good and attempting the best possible quality for their projects in DTLA.

I'm not completely sure about that. I Think we were given 2 designs for the Wilshire grand and we didn't take notice because they are nearly identical. But if you look back at page 38, It looks like the "exposed columns" were just an illusion all along because in earlier renderings it looks like they glass actually covers them but in later ones they columns look to be exposed. So either we You're right and the design got valued engineered which for a project this far along feels unlikely especially with a financially stable company like Korean Air, OR they changed the plans and went back to an earlier rendering

I'm not saying I'm right or you are either but just because a project is this far along doesn't mean it will not go through design altering changes. The contractor will be trying to make as much money as he can while proposing material substitutions with more economical (cheaper) ones. Unless we architects specify something almost difficult to substitute or argue that the material is integral to the project, even if the owner is rich, they will tend to approve the cheaper solutions to save money.
