I would think Peel Region would get the same treatment if services in York Region were amalgamated into one municipal tier. Peel has 200,000 more people.

"Surprisingly close", for people who aren't population geeks, I'd say.

But still very unlikely to pass Ottawa at any point.

The WHL's Winnipeg Ice unveiled the planned upgrades to their temporary home for the next two years, the 1,600 seat Wayne Fleming Arena on the University of Manitoba campus (across the street from Investors Group Field):

This is how the exterior looks (it's under the same roof as the larger Max Bell Centre complex):

It ain't Rogers Place, but it'll have to do for now until their own new arena is built.

No, he's right. According to the 2016 census Ottawa had 934,000 people and Mississauga had 721,000. And Ottawa's annual growth rate is quite a bit higher too.

MONTREAL — Stephen Bronfman-owned Claridge Investments and real estate development firm Devimco have reached an agreement to develop a plot of land for sale known as the Peel Basin, where a group committed to bringing Major League Baseball back to Montreal would like to build a new stadium.

Bronfman announced the deal at a gathering Tuesday night to honour his father, former Montreal Expos owner Charles Bronfman, as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Montreal Expos’ first season.

Stephen Bronfman, who heads a group of investors interested in bringing baseball back to Montreal, said Devimco would be responsible for the purchase of the land and would partner with his firm to develop the 950,000-square-foot site.

It wasn’t clear how long completing the purchase would take.

Bronfman said he hopes to make an announcement in the summer, but he isn’t too hung up on dates.

Very cool, looks like they put some thought into it.

I don't know how well you'll be able to see the game from the "Social" area, especially if you can only get a close as the back of the loges. I'll probably still spring for my usual seats, hopefully not more than $250

Definitely excited!

Nice... But when I start looking more carefully at these renderings I can't help but notice a lot of awkward details. The third one from the bottom is hilarious.
