If they want people to take the bus from their homes to the Avenir Centre and back, I'm not sure how having just the Blue Line and Green Line bus extend hours on Sunday would help for those heading home after. Blue Line is pretty much just Main St. and the Green Line is mostly Mountain Road. If you live in Riverview or Dieppe you cannot take the bus for a Sunday game or even most residential areas of Moncton really.

I know this is a totally random observation, but the Avenir Centre is the only arena in the entire QMJHL that does not have a Wikipedia page.

There's a press conference here with UFC exec David Shaw, comments that the Avenir Centre was excellent to work with and after being asked about some empty seats said they plan to continue to grow the product in Atlantic Canada and "no doubt will be back" to Moncton.

One thing thats worth noting..UFC makes its money on TV, streaming & advertising. They don't really care that much about gates. Despite the fact that the event didn't sell out. The arena having all the latest technology, security and staff that are professional to work with could make all the difference.

Of course they'll want to come back. The UFC got their money in advance so they didn't care if it was sold out or not. As long as the crowd is into it, and it looks good on tv.

The question is whether or not SMG made money that night and would they be willing to ask the City to bring them back again.

I'm betting that the City made a quick call this morning wondering if they'll get a part of that 700k gate money.

My bullet points:

- Got there just after 7pm. First matched started at 7:30ish.
- My $214 all included fees ticket first row behind hockey players bench. See photo below.
- 12 fight card lasted after 2:00am
- Concourse vendors, super busy.
- Atmosphere, awesome. 6200 in attendance was responsive.
- Security, very high. Never seen so much in all my years (35) of attending shows.
- Bruce Buffer, ring announcer, awesome!
- Quality of fights, surprising really good. And that's all 12 fights.
- Floor seats, pretty much sold out, except a couple of rows.
- Lower bowl attendance, 50/50ish. See photo below. Bleachers, almost solid.

Final thoughts. Did Moncton get there $150,000 money's worth? Hell yeah! Was it worth my $214 for 7 hours of entertainment, hell yeah!!!! Would I ever go again, better believe it!

I think 6300 in Moncton is excellent, considering this is probably the smallest city/region they've ever held a show. UFC Fight Night in cities under 1 million typically draws 5000-7000, from a quick glance at past attendance on wiki.

Side note, the reported Moncton gate of $692k beat out the 2017 Halifax show ($575k) despite an attendance of 8100.

I feel the same way Budyser. My seats where higher up in 121 and we had a great time.

We also thought that the sight lines and atmosphere was wayyy better than when we went to Halifax for UFC in 2014.

I know this doesn't belong in the Avenir Centre thread, but I can't resist (there is no Q League thread).

The Moncton Wildcats are now #1 in the QMJHL with 26 points at the 1/4 season mark.

They are on track to have a 104 pt. season this year.

The Wildcats are currently the top scoring team in the Q

- Jeremy McKenna is #1 in the scoring race with 11 G, 18 A & 29 pts, on track for a 116 pt season.
- Jakob Pelletier is #4 in league scoring with 9 G, 16 A & 25 pts, on track for a 100 pt season.
- Mika Cyr is #10 in league scoring with 8 G. 14 A & 22 pts, on track for an 88 pt season.

The Mooseheads are the host team for the Memorial Cup this year. They are guaranteed to have a slot in the four team tournament. Wouldn't it be delicious if the Cats won the Presidents Cup, and then had a chance to take the Mooseheads down in the Memorial Cup final, just like the Remparts did to the Wildcats back in 2006.

I might have to start considering getting tickets to the Memorial Cup tournament in Halifax this year, just in case.........

I will warn you that basically the entire lower bowl has already been taken, and as far as I know the first 5-10 rows of the upper bowl. Personally if I'm too high up at the Scotiabank Centre it is not an enjoyable experience not being able to see anything but the ice surface.

It will be interesting to see what the Cats do at Christmas..I don't believe they intend to go all in this year. They've had a relatively easily schedule so far playing Bathurst & SJ 7 times..and some weaker Quebec teams. They looked good in their win against Rimouski. If they are still in first come Christmas time they will certainly have some decisions to make.

Personally I see them as a light buyer..they are set in goal & up front. They have a weakness on D and could see them trying to go for some cheaper options to win a few rounds..as prices to aquire top players in a memorial cup year are astronomical. Any conversation involving acquiring a top player this year will start with asking about the Bathurst 2019 1st round pick which should be a top 3 pick. The Cats must keep that pick at all costs as it means a future franchise player.

That's too bad. I'm like you - the upper bowl at the ScotiaBank Centre seems claustrophobic the way it is hidden in behind their box seats. I'll have to think about it (whether or not to get the Memorial Cup package). I did the Memorial Cup here back in 2006 and had a blast!

Robert Irving wants a Memorial Cup so badly he can taste it - yet, the Wildcats are now the only NB based team never to have won the Memorial Cup!!

Personally, I don't think it would be prudent for the Cats to go "all in" this year to win the cup. Their current success is a surprise, and largely due to their new goalie Felix Leclerc. He's rock solid, which in turn gives the team a lot of confidence, and helps to improve their offense (defencemen can move up more than they might with a weaker goalie).

They should enjoy the ride this year, but keep on with their long term plan I think. I agree with you, they need to keep their first round picks.........

For those who think Bryan Adams is selling well by looking on ticketsmaster it could be a deception. I found a majority of those seat sold was still technically not sold but on another site aka scalpers sites(ticketsmaster subsidiary company) . Selling in American currency and price up ripping people off . For the avenir to choose ticketsmaster was a terrible idea and now it more apparent. There are being investigated in the USA for fraud https://www.cbc.ca/amp/1.4839904

Its so frustrating these garbage websites exist. I just wonder if there is really money to be made here. Whos paying over $200 Canadian for a standard ticket to see Bryan Adams? My guess is this company ends up stuck with hundreds of tickets which end up empty. Going to look funny after SMG posts they have a "sold out show". This is a problem across North America..but Moncton is a market that might self correct compared to Toronto.
