I think that was an altitude dump more than anything.

I've seen random patterns like that before but didn't think about fuel dumps. I assumed during a normal flight there wouldn't be any need to dump.

Good Day.

not a fuel dump - that is emergencies.

this was probably a rapid series of loops and turns to loose altitude more quickly, probably because he was moved up the landing queue faster than he anticipated, and needed to get down to the lower altitude circuits in order to line up for landing.

A really fast altitude loss manouver is either a dive or a side-slip, both highly uncommon and generally also for emergencies.

EnJoy!

Well I wondered about that. Having seen patterns like that before I googled attitude dumps and got a page full of fuel dump info.

This makes sense now.

It was announced a while back that TS was adding a third PUJ flight during the week, and we uncovered it would be on a 320. At that time, everything else appeared constant.

I checked this morning and noticed a few changes.

- From the beginning of November to the start of peak sun season (right around Xmas), VRA won't be running this year. PUJ moves from Sunday to Saturday during that time, and the CUN flight still runs as usual. Still served by 738s.

- Once peak sun season hits, we move over to being served completely by 320s this winter, with all flights being the same frequencies as last year until the end of the season (except for the additional PUJ flight).

I think we pretty much break even, in terms of available seats this winter, with TS. Losing 6-7 weeks of VRA and also the slightly lower seat count in the 320 compared with the 738 pretty much cancel out the new PUJ flight.

I went on the AC Vacations website and while the number of international sun frequencies is the same as last year (7x weekly), AC will only be serving two destinations - PUJ 3x and CUN 4x. See https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=..._EN.pdf&usg=AOvVaw1xbMLcaoKvsVvfftoFhRuz

We do have the new Sunwing flight to Los Cabos (SJD) though.

Here's how WG are looking at the winter peak (op day(s) of week - 1 = MON, 7 = SUN):

INT'L

CCC (2)
SNU (2,5)
HOG (2)
VRA (3,4,6,7)
POP (2)
PUJ (3,6,7)
MBJ (1,7)
CUN (1,5,6)
SJD (4)
PVR (5)

TB
FLL (6)

TOTAL: 19 INT'L & 1 TB - Anyone want to go back in the thread and see how this compares with last winter?

Based on last year's, looks like we're up from 16x last year. The new SJD service, plus an extra frequency each on PUJ and CUN.

That's great. It shows that WG will base 2 738s full-time at YOW this winter and none of the aircraft during the peak will be popping up to a secondary airport like YYB, thereby splittling the load like in the past.

For Transat, are they all YOW originator/terminators this winter? Last winter, I think 1 or 2 weekly went to Rouyn or Val D'or.

I think last winter they were all YOW originators, two years ago was when YOW was the intermediate stop. Doesn't matter though, TS has pulled out of both Val D'or and Rouyn.

Transborder this winter is shaping up to be sucktacular.

WS have cancelled TPA AND FLL and reduced RSW back to Saturday-only (73G), with MCO at 3x weekly only Fri (738) & Sat-Sun (73G). I haven't checked WS' international offering yet.

On the bright side, all of AC's 16 weekly frequencies have been changed back to 320s from 319s. In other words, fortunately the 319s were just placeholders.

AC are clearly gradually loading their winter schedules as on the domestic side, I checked November and I see AC continuing to offer the two daily winter YYC departures on 319s, while both YVR flights are on 321s. However, Rapidair must all still be placeholders as EVERYTHING 17x (which is down from 18x last winter) is listed as E90. There isn't even a 763 rotation to rotate the LHR flight, which of course doesn't add up.

For UA this fall, a 3 IAD flights are listed as being on CR7s, but EWR is back down to 2x ERJ from this summer's 2x ERJ 1x E70. ORD in the fall is unchanged from the current 2x ERJ 1x CRJ.

I find UA's a/c allocation to be pretty fluid. For example, I'm booked into ORD and back during September on E75.

A storm near YYZ got us a Transat 332, Transat 310 and a Sunwing MAX today.

Also a couple WestJet 737s from YYC and YHZ. Was hoping for the Air France or British Airways but they diverted to YUL.

Our weather started deteriorating not long after the diversions and YOW went into ground stop (around 1800). Been in a stop ever since.

I noticed that as well. Seemed like all the diversions made it out except WestJet 31. Still on the ground as of now. Interesting day at YOW that's for sure.

According to FlightAware, AC889 landed at 18:50 local. Per AC's flight status page, it didn't actually arrive at the gate until 21:39. I'm sure those three hours felt like an eternity.

Yeah. It's not that long a flight but an extra 3 hours when you've actually arrived sucks.

It's been a long time since we had that much lightning for that long.

I had a friend stuck on a WS bird from YVR for well over 2 hours.

I'm sure there were more too. The only reason I picked 889 was because that was the only one showing up on the ground radar on FR24.
