Let's gggooo spring!

First noon cannon I've noticed this year from Signal Hill. It is literally ringing my ears WTF are they using this year? lol

Also, got a bad sunburn yesterday. I'm usually very careful - sunscreen every day, even in winter. But I forgot in the rush to get on the highway.

Perfect day. Went for a morning hike before it gets too hot. This is just north of Stoney Lake.

One of the charms of this neighbourhood is genuinely not being sure if the vehicle owners themselves did that, or they're coming home to a surprise lol

Made it up to 28.7 degrees in Ottawa yesterday with hazy sunshine. The bike paths were packed with people and last night was balmy like a summer evening! Low of 15.7 last night.

12C and partly cloudy in Moncton at 8 AM, going up to 27C this afternoon (humidex 30).

This will be our first 30 humidex of the season.

The next three days will be similar (but a little warmer, up to 29C).

A whole May 2-4 long weekend that was hot, sunny and had no rain? Wow.

Headed up north. Pulled over on some random piece of asphalt on one of the country roads that leads to Bradford. Observed these gastropods all over in this spot. Only saw one shell. Not sure what was going on but a massacre happened here. All those dark spots are those that were run over.

And of course, there's a sign that says no dumping yet people felt okay dumping bags of garbage there.

Two chipmunks decided to make their hole home one foot away from the fire. We noticed that we when lit the fire in the evening we'd hear chirping coming from the trees. I think it was the chipmunks who wanted to return home but were afraid of the fire. At least we contributed many dozens of peanuts to their stash. They'd take from your hand but not adventurous to climb up your leg and what not. I'll have to work on training them.

Cool sideways growing mushroom

Water was surpringly not that cold for this time of the year. Could comfortably stand in it. For people who like a refreshing swim, this might have been even too warm for that. But not warm enough for most people to enjoy it.

First time seeing a beaver on the property.

BILs cut down this tree a couple of weeks ago. Not sure what was wrong with it. Interesting to see the sap or whatever still coming out of it.

Despite this looking like a good fishing hole, and sometimes it is, this pool didn't even produce a single a creek chub or baby rainbow trout. During the right time of year, which was like a couple weeks ago, some big spawning rainbows would be in there. But it's a sanctuary at that time.

Finally getting a southwesterly flow, currently sun and cloud and 13 at 10am, highs pushing 20 today. Should be much the same tomorrow before falling back into the same northeasterly pattern again on Thursday for the foreseeable future.

My backyard weather station hit 20 degrees about half an hour ago, the first 20 degree day of the year. Earlier than last year by quite a bit.

YYT so far today has maxed out at 18.4 degrees.

I as well earned a bad sunburn, mostly on my left arm, and part of my collar where my worn out shirt exposed my skin. It was 28C as a high in Hamilton, and the same for today, both in Toronto and Hamilton. (Actually, sorry, Toronto hit 29C today!)
I was in Hamilton yesterday for some hiking, and taking in the sights of Barton Village on the way to the GO station

A sweltering day. First 30 for my weather station.

I had a ball game in Chatham and it was even hotter there, 33 at game time. It tends to get real hot from Chatham up through Wallaceburg and Dresden and into Lambton County. Years ago I did maintenance at remote stations all over that area while working for Union Gas at the Dawn Hub. Nothing but flat farmland for miles and miles and nothing to stop the heat from building up on a sunny day.
