Yeah, I know there is supposed to be a proposed building for that area, does anyone know what is going to be built it that spot?
I haven't been to the Lake Shore East sales center for a while, but I believe I do remember a proposed building.

Those railings need to improved big time. Would wreck the whole look if those railings arent smooth with the contour of the waves. Oh and also, do you guys know of the people who designed these buildings ever look on these forums to see what people are saying about their designs?

Oh, I don't know about that. I saw someone in the paint department at Menards today who looked suspiciously like Jeanne Gang. I didn't ask her who she was, but I saw her looking at color swatches next to the concrete paint.

But anyway, just in case she is reading here: What the hell is with those attrocious balcony railings? I thought they were all supposed to be custom, with curves conforming precisely to the curvature of the concrete. There ought not be a perfectly straight line anywhere, yet there they are! And the curves from section to section don't even flow properly. This looks like someone took sections of thin wrought iron fencing and knocked some bends into them with a sledgehammer. Very disappointing.

^^^I don't entirely buy that. Buildings ALWAYS approximates curves with straight elements. She might have used smaller lines to approximate the curves better, but I don't see it as THAT bad.

Anyway, the railings look good asethetically: color, texture and everything.

Another tower with possible a school at the base.

We'll have to see about the school though, becasue as it's been pointed out to be, the school would be with the minimum distance of bars (at the Fairmont Hotel and the hotel within Aqua).

There's nothing wrong with the railings, and yes, they know about these blogs.

The railing does look a little disappointing when you look at it this close up. I'm betting that when you are street level or further, they will probably appear fine. I have to say though, for such a stunning building, the railing seems like a poorly designed after thought. I guess if your going to cut corners, black railing that’s meant to blend in is the place to do it.

I can't believe anyone would defend those railings.

If I had bought into the building, I would seriously contact Studio Gang....
and ask about the "Best Buy" balcony railings. They look like
something my grandfather would piece together on his back porch.

..like I said before, I LOVE this building...and expect it to be one
of the first iconic building of this young century.

The disjointed and pieced together railings absolutely ruin it for me.

Ms Gang...go chain yourself to the railing...and DEMAND a re-do.

^^^ What are you talking about, if you look at the edge of the balcony and the railings that are on it, they follow almost perfectly, the railings just aren't as fluid. I think they look good.

The building is a masterpiece...
the balconies are fluid..the railings should be fluid.

I agree. the shape of the railing, need to match the concrete its attached to perfectly, not straight bars where they can get away with it, and bent when they cant.

There's nothing wrong with the railings. They DO approximate the curves rather well. Not every railing can be custom molded as a one piece deal.
