^^^ I believe it works out to something like $40,000 to $50,000 per stall.

I just spoke to the people at skycity today

apparently they are going to have ground breaking on the project in august and make major announcements during their press conference.

a rendering for the st regis site will be in the free press in the next week or so and apparently it includes ground retail and will look "spectacular"

I told them that many people are skeptical about this project and believe that even if ground breaks that we will end up with a hole in the ground. He said regina was a take over project and that this would be a completely different situation and that partnering with Edenshaw who has a strong track record of developing high rises will push it through finish line..

he said st regis site and sky city will be tied together and both project will begin together.

st regis parkade will be completed late 2018 and podium for skycity will be completed in 2019

he said residential portion would be completed sometime 2020

so were about 3 years away from seeing it in the skyline.. he also mentioned the fact that Harvard. artis riet, chipman, Thompson and the govt are investing billions in to downtown should be an indication that downtown Winnipeg is going to be the place to be very soon and those billionaires know what their doing

But $40k would cost almost $200 a month at 3% for 25 years. That's unheated parking for say $225.

^Smart move to include ground retail. Good info lilwayne.

Hope it looks better than the brutalist York and Donald garage.

With all due respect, anything they say (or any proposed condo developer says) should be taken with a grain of salt. Theyve been throwing out timeframes since the beginning that they've never stuck to, so not sure why believe them now.

With that said I'll remain cautiously optimistic as long as we're seeing some semblemnce of progress as slow as it may be. They do appear to be moving forward on the st Regis site so it's not like nothing's happening.

Big Ben hasn't chimed in for a while. Maybe he can provide some info.

Also thank you to Lilwayne for stopping in to see what they had to say. Like was said, always need to be skeptical of them sales folk. We'll see what comes of the St. Regis site after it's demo'd. Hopes and prayers the City has them buy the balls...

One other note. The sales figures on the billboards haven't moved for some time. A couple months back they added 'over' to the 50% figure. So there's that. I wonder where the financing is at.

Wouldn't give exact sales figure but said residential sales are enough money wise because most of all the expensive and higher floor units are sold.. he said they shoring up deals with commercial tennants and should have ground breaking press conference august where they will give details

Also reendering for st regis parkade next eeek or so will look spectacular

I think there is enough pent-up demand in Winnipeg for this type of downtown living that I am not as sceptical about the project as some on here. once people get more comfortable with the idea that it is going ahead I would expect sales to strengthen further. I would certainly be looking at it if in the market.

How many high rises has Edenshaw developed, exactly?

not sure but this is one of their projects that's won plenty of awards and its about 47 stories so they aint no scamsters sorry to inform you.. poor regina and their hole ppl need to get over that project im sure itll get built one day.. we got proper developers on this project.. cant wait to see our new tallest up in 3 years.. I'm sure sales be at 80 - 90 percent at that point. youd think with all the nonsense finessing and that other guy were spewing about fortress youd think some news agency would of exposed them and ran them out of town by now.. this site should relax and things roll as they may.. they were either developer or project managers on this one.. so far it looks like its going full steam ahead with demolition and ground breaking next month.. if skycity 300 main Sutton hotel and the potential project at palomino site go ahead wowsers downtown be whole different beast

Just from looking online these are a few more building/pictures which Edenshaw completed. If SkyCity will have at least a bit of what Chaz Yorkville has, I'll be happy

I would prefer the sparkling Chaz over the dull current SkyCity design.

Murray McNeill gets the scoop on the SkyCity Parkade:

Quote:
Parkade, retail complex set to rise
Work on project planned for St. Regis Hotel site expected to start this fall

Construction is expected to get underway in November on a new $18-million to $20-million parkade/retail complex on the former St. Regis Hotel property on Smith Street.

"Our proposed timeline is to start demolition (of the hotel) at the end of August, submit for a full building permit in September and start above-ground construction in November," Fortress Real Developments Inc. spokeswoman Natasha Alibhai said in an interview Tuesday. "So everything is moving pretty fast on this one."

https://www.winnipegfreepress.com/bu...438016463.html

It looks like the Centrepoint parkade's relative, but at least it has CRUs on the main floor.

I think the demolition of the St. Regis is a given, but will there ever be a construction phase?

I would take that over the St Regis in a heartbeat. Built to renderings, it would be a net plus for downtown.

I also like the little mural in the rendering that comes from the current building.

Edit: I'm pretty sure every time a rendering for a new project is released, there are more and more people who drive Bentley Continentals and Corvettes. Where's mine!?!?
