I didn't listen to this week's meeting, but a few months ago council was told the province plans to install the roundabout this summer.

The Province completed traffic studies in the past. Their current plans include a roundabout at the westbound ramp terminal (north intersection) and lane improvements at the eastbound ramp (south intersection). The project is currently being designed by a consultant for the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure. The current timeframe is 2025-2026 construction as indicated in recent correspondence and their capital works planning map
I would say that the interchange improvements will be concurrent with the construction of the new Fen's service centre, with both being open by early 2026.

Here's a really nice Infinity Aerials drone shot of this apartment building under construction next to the Amsterdam Inn and Quality Inn at Magnetic Hill, with the surrounding neighbourhood for context.

I really love Infinity Aerials ability to frame their subject and provide perspective and context. They do it very, very well.

The photo nicely demonstrates the density developing at Magnetic Hill, and how this neighbourhood is becoming an important growth node in it's own right. Just imagine if the rumours are correct and there may soon be a new development including 15 and 16 storey residential towers in behind IHOP!

It would appear that the design for this apartment building has changed yet again, at least as far as the roof (and windows) is concerned.

The vacant lot immediately to the east of Wheaton's on Mountain Road, formerly for sale, is now sporting a sign saying "under contract.' Anyone have any ideas what may be happening?

It's a big lot but it's zoned commercial so I'm guessing not apartment's. Maybe a new business Plaza?

Could they do apartment building(s) in the back, and a commercial plaza in the front? Similar concept to the developers Riverview mall plan?

Anything is possible, but, the larger lot also contains Wheaton's and the professional plaza to the west of Wheaton's, as well as a self storage facility. I can't imagine anyone really wanting to live there. I suspect it will be fully commercial.

I was thinking that because it's an L shaped lot, the back section (away from the road) could be developed residential. Any retail constructed back there wouldn't have a lot of visibility; and there already is a small condo complex directly beside it, tucked in behind a small commercial plaza.

Anyway, I'm just spit-balling - thinking about maximising the land use. We'll see eventually.

Thanks!

So, we have a project start date (June 9th)

Components include:

1) - roundabout at the westbound on/off ramps at TCH/Mapleton
2) - signalized intersection at the eastbound on/off ramps at TCH/Mapleton
3) - Realignment of the Queensway/Northwood intersection with Mapleton.

Project end date is December 31st.

This should make a definite difference to traffic flow.

I have a strong suspicion that the Fens/Starbucks/Denny's project will be under construction concurrently with this.

They have now dismounted signage for Home 2 Suites by Hilton on the vacant lot adjacent to the Hampton Inn near the TCH/Mapleton interchange.

I wonder what this means?

Are they reconsidering this project, or, is this in preparation for construction?

or,

Could they be thinking about going back to the proposed initial downtown site at the Junction Urban Village.

Hmmmmm.............

It would be interesting to know as they did just break ground on the exact same hotel in Charlottetown next to the Hilton. I can’t remember if they took the sign down first and then did land clearing. Who knows hopefully it’s one of what you mentioned and not just cancelled all together.
