I've seen this so many times. I don't get it. Is it all for the Likes and Subscribes - "I was there on the first day! Yay!"? Because these people never turn in to loyal recurring customers that keep the business afloat.

Remember on this very forum the photos of lineups and the excited talk when the very first "Beard Papa" (I think that was the name) opened in Vancouver? It was literally a few blocks from here, on Robson. How long did that last?
Blame hipster bibles like Scout for the lemming-like activity.

It's assume you've never left this city and don't realize that this is just human nature.

Not quite the same as lining for something mundane as fried chicken.

Haha, when you put it that way, yeah, it's pretty stupid.

How about people can line up for whatever they want, for whatever reasons they may have, and we don't need to judge them? I bet plenty of people on this forum will try to ride the new Skytrain line on the first day even though nothing will be different the second day, the experience will be similar to the other Skytrain lines, and it's just light rail and not something exciting like hyperloop or HSR.

I think it's great that a restaurant is super busy on its first day. It's certainly better than coming and going six months later with no one noticing. Maybe someone loves the peach pie, and maybe someone else is only doing it for the 'gram or their YouTube channel, but either way it's their choice and it doesn't impact me.

The only reasons someone should be venting about the line is if they also really want to get some Jollibee. And if that's the case, you should be angry at yourself because of your lack of commitment

Yep. If you're shaming other people for harmless things they enjoy, you need to take a look in the mirror.

Yes, and I would also add that the line I’ve seen so far has been 99% Filipino. They just want to experience something that reminds them of home. They’re waiting in line with friends and family.

Mintara will be the name of the new restaurant at the ex-Horizon's building on Burnaby Mountain run by the city.
Mintara is the Japanese term used for the Playground of the Gods sculptures, no mention if this means the restaurant will be Japanese cuisine.

The city is going to run it so I doubt it will be a Japanese restaurant.

It very well could be. Wouldn't put it past them to have it "Westcoast Fusion". Japanese cuisine, watered down featuring local ingredients, served at overpriced prices!

I have no opinion on the name, just as good as any, but I hope their cuisine will cater to a wide audience, since it is a nice place for so many to visit.

there is a restaurant taking over the restaurant space above Whole Foods on Cambie, it is called Seaport City, the article doesn't have any information on what or who it is that is opening, other than the name and some of the renovations going on.

Coquitlam Centre has announced some food court renovations over the next six months, doesn't sound very impressive though - nearly a direct copy of renovations seen at other malls in the lower mainland over the last few years.

Saw a couple of pizza pizza "franchise opportunity" posters on the leased former dollar store space at the library.

And also the lineup at Jollibee has died down quite a bit lol.

Signage up now at the Robson/Homer location (former Starbucks).

I'm surprised Noodle Box couldn't make it there. Badly run by the franchisee?

Mediocre food with a mid-block location with low foot traffic. I'm surprised they lasted ten years.
