I'll just add that I wish they'd put the proposed Masonic lodge skinny tower at 8th and Colorado where Iron Bear used to be. It would add to the skinny tower around Congress neighborhood.
It would fit much better there than crammed up against the Comerica building at seventh and Lavaca.

This should start flying up now that the tower is above the neighboring theater.

I am really excited for this one. It's going to look amazing. It's too bad the light rail won't just go down Congress. I'd love to see more improvements to that part of the city, and some Main Street in Houston vibes with bars, restaurants and a train line right down the road would be great for Austin.

I dunno, I don't like the way Houston's main street looks with the rail lines down it. Makes it look very messy.

Ah...the SFARSH. At least that will fit on a souvenir koozie. In my heart, it will always be...

Speaking of....has Hyatt announced any specific branding for this hotel? Or rather, have they put out any sort of marketing/promotional material?

It's specifically a Centric, which is (surprise!) millenial-focused, urban in feel, and built for people who want to spend most of their time in the lobby or out in the neighborhood. Light on meeting space, maybe a cool restaurant or bar. TBH, a great fit for that building.

https://www.hyatt.com/brands/hyatt-centric

So far as I can tell, there've been no attempts to staff up yet. I haven't seen any of the exec committee posting I'd normally expect (GM, Director of Sales, Director of Housekeeping, etc). It's possible they could transfer some of them from within the Hyatt system, but we'd still see the postings.

As a comparison, the Thompson/Tommie started their search for a Director of Sales about 3-4 months ago.

Ahhh -- thanks! Good info.

I didn't realize "Centric" was a brand. I've been reading the title ever since this was the Avenue, and thinking it was just a way of saying "Hyatt-branded" LMAO

Ha. I almost posted that the brand has been in the thread title for a year. But I didn't want to be an A'Hole.
