So.......Carpe Diem it is, then?

Actually, (I could always be wrong, but....) I wouldn't worry too much if I were you.....I don't think the mayor is in a political muscle-flexing mood much these days, and not looking for opportunities to anger and alienate, and to cause distrust in additional constituencies (to the extent that there still are some out there to check off the list!)......

That's surprisingly easy to work with. Great to know that code won't force crappy pomo style on a developer that can't/doesn't want to pay to do it right.

As I mentioned in the boom rundown, this project should be coming before the plan commission in April.

Also, I believe there will be another community meeting regarding this project on Monday, February 29th, held at the Hotel Blake at 6:00PM.

^^ ^ Yes - many thanks! This is an important one.....one to 'stretch' to get to.....a lot of neighbors - presumably including our own esteemed Mr Downtown - will still come down on the unmistakably wrong side of this proposal and come out vehemently opposed to the new downsized design......let's send 'em packing, boys!

First Meeting Report

Helmut in da Houze!

Why is Ken Dunkin here?? Gotta be something happening behind the scenes here - this isn't Chicago for nuthin'....

Add: Blair Kamin makes an appearance....

My initial take: This new design is definitely a move in the right direction.......this is clearly a refinement......good stuff so far - I like what I see....very nice elegantly subtle complexity and fluidity to its shape.....nice touch of structural espresso on to boot......

Floor plate increases in size a bit (in addition to changing shape) as tower rises....

This could be a cool looking building if they use the right materials for it. The last shot reminds me for some reason of a few buildings I saw in Singapore a few years ago.

I really like this design. It reminds me or at least appears to look like 50 West. The crown at least. Elegant, and sleek in its nature with its curves on the sides. This looks like a promising project that's a healthy addition to the current stock.
