That's because once you get over the causeway, the 4 hours worth of rocks and trees and squirrels that you drive through on the way to Thunder Bay make your brain melt.

Fort Frances to TBay has gotta be one of the longest stretches where there's just . . . nothing. (Atikokan doesn't count)

Although, if was in the last 3 years, the it was probably unremarkable due to the bridge being under construction. They just finished year 3 of a 5 year rehabilitation of the thing. Its been down to a single lane for the better part of 2 and a half years now.

Have you driven on the Trans Canada between Winnipeg and Regina in the middle of winter? Brandon, MB was a welcome respite!

This crumby old bridge has a special place in my heart being that it's my hometown
Main St. Bridge - Welland, Ontario -built 1930

It crosses the old Welland Canal (now recreational waterway since the bypass was built in the early 1970's). For 4 decades this lift bridge was the lifeline connecting the West(generally newer/more prosperous) and East (generally older/less prosperous) sides of town with most of the downtown being located on the East side.

anecdote: My mum was perpetually late for high school in the mornings because she lived on the East side and Welland High was on the West Side. I wish I could have used the boat traffic excuse!

Here is a video I made last night of the Canada Line, Oak Street and Arthur Lang Bridges crossing the Fraser between Vancouver and Richmond. All the footage was taken at the end of October. Was fun to just sit back and watch the word go by. It is a busy little spot.
