That ledge seems to have disappeared or now has dirt hiding the edge.

Webcam pic today.
You can see boreholes for shoring columns.

Edit nevermind the concrete being lowered wasn't related to a crane install.

That concrete would appear to be isolating the Dunsmuir Tunnel from the rest of the excavation.

I figured out what happened. It looks like the flatbed was unloading concrete pads onto the street for that heavy crane to use for it's outriggers. They dropped in that green boom lift into the pit.

A "task" of this building (or rather, the architects, MCM) is to tie the area together, design-wise. The neighbouring buildings are rather heterogeneous in colour, size, and form.
This one has bluish glass to pull in certain neighbouring buildings, and I think the curved façade will really "clinch it," adding a sleeker feel to the 'hood.

does anyone know if they had to do anything unique/special to deal with the CPR Tunnel underneath the corner of the property?

i just remember there being issues with the Canada-Line @ W 12th and was curious about this one since part of the CPR Tunnel goes under this building.

It's the triangle in the corner. It doesn't look like they did anything except work around it and not anchor into it. They put some piling next to it as well.

the crane going up for this tower is going up late October.. red Wolf Luffer.. this will also be a post tension cable jobs.. with massive perimeter beams that are radius and get wider and deeper each floor going up .. then tapering back down near the top.. formwork and concrete work staring in the next little while.

Cool, thanks for the info.
I wonder if they somehow leave an area where internal staircases can be retrofitted at a later time?
Multi-floor tenants often have internal staircases and it strikes me that post-tension cabling would prevent that
unless it was designed in during construction (and tenants change and renovate over time).

i am quite sure they will. and probably leave space for 1 future staircase on the north side, and 1 on the south side of some of the floors.

I guess they're a little behind schedule? Seems like they are 4-5 floors down at the deeper end of the pit?
