PHOTO COURTESY OF EAST WEST PARTNERS East West Partners recently announced the sale of its Flagstaff condominiums at Empire Pass. The thirty-seven $2 million to $6 million units will be finished in the late spring of 2009.
The Village at Empire Pass in Deer Valley was never intended for low-end cookie-cutter homes and condominiums.
That's what East West Partners associates reminded The Park Record and local real estate companies at The Egyptian Theatre on Wednesday, Nov. 28, during the coming-out party for its luxury ski-in, ski-out condominiums currently being constructed at Empire Pass. The property is scheduled to be completed in the late spring of 2009.
Sorry, I forgot. North Temple is 100 North. So it would be in the parking lot next to the Fidelity building. Actually, a full-size Hyatt Regency wouldn't fit in with the Gateway. I don't think we'll see anything very tall in the area. I remember back in the 70's(?) there was talk of a Hyatt Regency. It never happened. I have pictures I'd like to post some day (if I can figure out how to do it.)
On the subject of the Social Hall Center (above) -- I like it. This is the kind of architecture we need to see, not boring boxes -- or white temples (no offense, CCC).
I can't believe it. The Salt Lake Hyatt is 7 stories. Salt Lake will have the distinction of having the shortest Hyatt in the world. By the way, it will be on the north side of the viaduct, maybe in that parking lot south of the high school.
Seven stories isn't that bad. Not since we first thought it was going to be 6-stories. So another floor added helps. Also Sandy is getting a Hyatt. But that one is only 4 stories maybe 5?

I agree with the comment that we probably won't see anything very tall in the Gateway District. I meant that with the test of this Hyatt Jr. Hyatt Regency would be on it's way into the CBD within the next 10 years.
As for social hall it really is sad that those buildings never materialized. I really like the design. I really hope that whatever Cowboy Partners puts on that location will be a great design, something similar to the rendering above. I would rather have a 35 story building that looks like the rendering above rather than a 40 story, if I had to choose that is. A 40 story designed like that would Ideal!
I agree with you Future Mayor, While I have no problems with the current stock of towers, especially Westgate, Utah One etc., it would be nice to see the designs shaken up a bit. I look forward to the day when we have a few iconic towers to go along with our iconic Wasatch backdrop
The Salt Lake City Planning Division is reviewing a Planned Development application from the Boyer Company requesting planned development approval to allow the construction of the Gateway Hyatt Place Hotel located at the north end of the Gateway Mall at approximately 55 North 400 West. The hotel is proposed to be seven (7) stories tall and include approximately 128 rooms. All new construction in the Gateway Mixed-use (G-MU) Zoning District requires planned development approval from the Planning Commission.

I seem to remember vividly that the H is for Hamilton. That's right!! This was to be one of they're first big overtures into Salt Lake. The main tenant in the taller tower was going to be First Security Bank. Eccles, merged First Security with Wells Fargo, and subsequently nixed the whole Hamilton Tower.

I think part of the nixing of the Hamilton tower shown above was the fact that American Stores(the original tenant of the now Wells Fargo building) relocated to Boise after Albertson's bought them out which was just as they completed the American Stores highrise. So, now we have the First Security/Wells Fargo merger in the left over American Stores building. I remember when they announced American stores leaving. I was so disappointed. If they had stayed and filled that building by themselves, we probably would have had the Hamilton Partners tower on 222 Main built and the Social Hall Towers built also. The Gateway Tower West was under construction at the same time the American Stores/Wells Fargo building was going up. Our skyline would have looked so much better by now.
Guys I'm running the financial feasibility on my project for the CBD and the more I run them the more excited I get. I am ending up with a positive financing gap, meaning if my assumptions are correct that the project is financially feasible. That is GOOD news. I'll let you all know some small details once I have the options on the properties.
