Looks like some work happening at the old Co-op site on Foundry and Record street. Large excavator, dozer and dump trucks, they are tearing up old asphalt & doing some leveling. Maybe something being started this fall?

My guess is another parking lot

They have also torn down 2 houses at the bottom of Robinson Street when you leave the Rogers parking lot. Not sure if anything is planning for that area as there are still a few houses left standing.

I don't think Heritage Court will sell there parking to the city since it seems to constantly be in use.

But the Coop it seemingly there are to many problems to fix it. So cost less to demolish the building, and build something new.

Any word yet on the Hilton hotel development? Seems like it may have stalled. I was hoping to see construction starting this Fall but it is becoming more and more unlikely.

I think regardless of whether there is a groundbreaking ceremony on the site this fall or not, that it is getting far too late in the construction season to actually begin digging this fall. Unless they can put in the foundation before the snow flies and the ground freezes, they won't start.

Nice! I would say that the announcement is coming soon then! I have never heard of this brand either, but Hilton Suites are usually amazing hotels, especially design wise, I see that currently there are only 2 in Canada, one in Toronto and one in Edmonton. It's a nice design, not sure about the red brick, but I'm sure once it's built it will look fantastic. I also like the 6 floors on a bit of a hill, it will really stand out!

Thanks, Ammn_guy. I've never heard of Home 2 Suites either, might be a new Hilton brand. It looks okay, slightly better than all the recent suburban hotels in the area I'd say.

A quick Google brought this up

Basically, it's Hilton's business apartment rental unit. You rent a suite with a kitchenette and other amenities for longer stays.

Very similar to the Marriott on the other end of Downtown.

Happy to see that it's six stories. It's what I predicted.

It also gives me great hope that Tannery Place (when it's built), will also be six stories. It would give symmetry to the development, and, when they announced the total number of apartments in the Tannery, the only way it would work would be if it was also six stories as well.

I love the fact the core is densifying with medium height buildings.

Honestly I agree with you, the more 5 - 6 story buildings the better, it's honestly a direction Moncton should continue to head, it fills in the gaps downtown and doesn't over saturate the market, with an over abundance of office space or apartments.

If it is to scale with the parking it does not seem to be a large building. specially if it's only going to be 6, or 7 levels. Unless it's going to be the Same as the Crown Plaza (without the shops facing Main Street, or the restaurant).

Seems to me they should have the building in back and parking in front. Wouldn't it be quieter this way than having frontage on a very busy main road?
