Really, though, you need to see Downtown, Midtown, and Buckhead to appreciate the growth of the city in the past 20-30 years.

As an aside, my old favorite vantage point of the skyline (near 17th and Northside) has now been obstructed by a very large and very annoying billboard.
he could always take one of those panarama 1400 megapixel shots and capture the whole city

1400 Peachtree

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but SOM is no longer involved with the 1400 Peachtree project (nor have they been for a long time). If the project ever happens, it will be with a local architect.

Both of the below articles are abridged for all but Atlanta Business Chronicle subscribers, but the full articles are usually available on Mondays.

For any Atlantans involved in this debate, this article will be poetic justice, especially after NASCAR turned down Atlanta, and the chance to expand its fan base to a real tourism destination, for a location closer to the drivers' homes and the core fanbase. I still remember people from Charlotte telling us that their museum didn't belong in a dangerous city, and that we should enjoy our "fishbowl." Meanwhile, the Aquarium's attendance continues to soar, and the Centennial Park area is slated to get, what, 10 more museums?

NASCAR Hall gets yellow flag in Charlotte

The sentence about the proposed location is cut off, but my guess is it's the former site of the National Museum of Patriotism.

Ripley museum could come to Atlanta

Plenty of land downtown, boosters tell developers

I read the print edition. Indeed it is the National Museum of Patriotism that Ripley's is considering.

Thanks for the confirmation. I'm glad someone's considering that space so soon.

ARC: Metro Atlanta could hit 8.3 million by 2040

Sure, it was a long campaign, Governor, but this is one meeting you should have attended...

For anyone who's interested, one of the new Real Housewives lives in Glenwood Park over in East Atlanta. One of the other OTP wive referred to it as a "re-gentrification area, where they try to make the hood look like the suburbs"

Did anyone else catch the Nat Geo show that talked about manmade disasters. Atlanta was feature for the tornado that came through the city. They said urban sprawl was to blame. Basically, it was caused by the drought+light rain closer to the city+ATL's heat island=Super Thunder Storms.

Any thoughts? Ubran spraw=Super Thunder storms? It was an interesting special.

The most important question posed by the article is whether Atlantans will actually embrace this. CAP itself sees this as a 5- to 10-year project, so in 20 years, we'll finally have decent transit here.

Well she is Boughetto...

However, and I know this will make heads spin, the concept of "gentrification" as urbanization is lost in Atlanta as we still give everyone a two car garage or accompanying parking spot...
