I'm sure the winds affect the construction itself.
i cant imagine that structure could rise all the way to the height of the completed spire.. and i dont think it will rise any further than this. i think they have temporary platforms built onto some of the section where workers would be able to do the work of securing bolts and alignment etc

This is as tall as the temporary platform will get. However, the white crane will be fitted with a climber cage or all together replaced with a crane equipped with one. I think the logical time to do it will be after the pieces on site are all installed. While I'm logged on. I'll check the facts for High intensity rotating beacons via the FAA website.
AC 150/5345-12
L-802A Beacon
On page 5 of the last link it says "The L-802A rotating beacon is
designed to enable pilots to locate the airport from a range up to 80 miles
(49.68 km) and is manufactured to specification AC 150/5345-12C." I looked up the cost of the LED fixtures mentioned. among all the results, the price is about $1200-$1900. But only the best for us.

The corners on the base that they are squaring off, are they using anything to fill those spaces in? Concrete, steel? Or are they just going to clad over the squared corners and leave the inside open between the cladding and the existing concrete base of the tower?

The space will remain hollow.

It looks a bit cloudy from the webcams...

Wow this is great, suddenly everything is moving quick. Glass, spire and base cladding all well underway.

It's amazing how much more dominating the tower looks as the glass rises.

From pics on SSC it looks like one of the transition sections for the spire is going up.

The tower has been obscured by heavy fog/snow for the last couple of days.....you can see what looks like a fat lighthouse of the spire waiting to be placed on her place
