Dear Mitt Romney:

Please make Pete Hokestra in charge of all of your political ads this election cycle.

Very truly yours,

Barack H. Obama

Debbie already had a good chance of being re-elected, but Pete has just pissed away any hope of winning by alienating Metro Detroit's sizable Asian communities.

You can't make this stuff up quickly enough. From the skybar steak thread:

Quote:
I agree with whoever argued for the superiority of pork. But only if it's heritage, small farm stuff. The factory raised stuff has no flavor.
I just used "heritage" as satirical, and only beat him seriously using it by a day or two. lol

"Heritage Pork" would make an excellent title for one of those Japanese senior porns.

Fuck, I still shop at Wal-Mart even though I can technically afford Target...

God help us if we're ever rich enough to buy "heritage" meats.

I do buy meat from a local deli, and it's much better than what you get at Wal-Mart, but it is also less expensive, so I'm sure 32001 won't like it.

I too love heritage, small farm pork. I always make sure my breakfast meats are from the finest cross-bred New England stock. I also make sure these piglettes have an ivy league degree and oink in at least five languages before I devour their flesh

Ha! Whole Foods is my Wal-Mart. While there I enjoy watching lower middle class folks delight in the quality of the produce, but recoil at the price of everything. Anyway, I've never been inside a Wal-Mart, although I imagine it's not too different than the pictures I have viewed on peopleofwalmart.com. In fact, I rarely drive past Wal-Mart's since those stores are typically located in shopping/residential area that cater to lower middle-class and poor people. You know, areas where one can find JoAnn's Fabrics, Pier One's, TJ Maxx, Marshall's, but yet too poor for god-awful Macy's. I don't think I'll find an Apple Store, Crate & Barrell, or Nieman Marcus on the same street or area.

Regarding Target, the only time I remember going there was when I house sat for a friend in college and I needed to pick up some more dog food. Target was the closest store and I was incredibly drunk at the time, so to minimize the DUI risk I went there. It wasn't too bad, but not a place I would shop again if I could help it.

My boss is a designer diabetic. He only uses insulin produced from the pancreas of free-range antibiotic-free heritage hogs!

My wealthy aunt swears by the insulin extracted from the pancreas of only the finest aborted fetuses.

^ Hopefully it is from northern European fetuses, preferably Scandinavian. Diabetics at peer banks would rather go into a coma than use insulin from PIIGS fetuses, or god forbid anywhere outside of Europe, Japan, and select areas in north America.

Also, the firm has been thinking about starting a trade in insulin futures (much like crude oil futures) due to the rise of obesity and the resulting diabetes. Buckeye should start hedging his insulin needs now as forecasts predict surging insulin demand after Holiday Season 2012 and decreased supplies due to insulin manufacturer consolidations. Obviously, the consolidations were necessary due to investor dissatisfaction that each insulin dose only earns pharmaceutical companies $1 in profit per dose while heart medications earn, on average, $5 per dose. The era of economically insane and unfairly cheap diabetic medicines is over, as it should be.

Kinda reminds me of my Navy days. Of course I really went to the art museums and religious historical sites whenever we hit a port, but I had friends who partook of the sort of disgusting behavior depicted in this clip.

Now you might tell your wife such stories but I don't believe you for a second.

Well played, sir. Well played.

BTW, a really interesting photo from a Detroit News article marking the 75th anniversary of the UAW's Flint Sit-Down Strike:

Crazy to think it almost lead to a massacre.

The public antipathy toward organized labor comes from a lack of knowledge of labor history. People only know about the cases of corruption and negative events that are trumpeted in the media, and don't know about the brutal treatment that workers received from owners and managers in the pre-union era and the sacrifices that workers and their families made to achieve a balance of power in the labor vs. management arena.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ludlow_Massacre

As a consequence they can't see where we're headed with growing efforts like right-to-work laws that erode the strength of organized labor.
