Google says 12-15sqft per person is recommended for restaurants so that should work.

I just can think of anywhere else in the area with dedicated outdoor seating, I would take a lot of sidewalk space for 100 seats.

I assume this will be in 2221 Main St.
Nice! I'm happier about the size than the owner, but it's all good.

I really like Popeyes. But not having one in our neighborhood (Metrotown) has forced us to explore local options if we don't want to drive to Richmond.

Not only does this place make better fried chicken, but its pricing is very competitive.

I don't have anything against chain restaurants, but I really hope local places survive. I'm a little skeptical since they can't negotiate the same with suppliers and delivery services, or finance large advertising campaigns. They also aren't nearly as resilient when they go through inter-generational transfers of ownership.

there is a Popeye's just past Edmonds, near the New West border.

I passed the Popeye's in Poco the other day, they had a lineup that went outside the door, I did my shopping at Walmart and on the way back out there was still a long line up and people continually arriving. It's very popular.

Pelicana is expanding too and opening 3 more locations, one in Poco in that strip mall next to the Nissan Dealership, One in Surrey Fleetwood near 160th and one in Victoria. I tried it once in Burnaby it was good, if you like Korean style Fried chicken.

But I do worry that Earl's will want to take the best Cactus Club locations and [shiver] turn them into Earl's...ugh, what a downgrade.

The Fuller Family is committed to keeping the brand and culture of Cactus Club Cafe. I have no doubt Fullers want to bring Cactus Club Cafe to the US Market (Earls, JOEY and LOCAL are in the US).

Thanks. Doesn't look like we'll have to wait too long to see what 100 seats on the patio looks like.

This on line calculator says 1160 sq feet is enough room for 90 - 116 people, depending on table size and amount of room per person.

https://www.banquettablespro.com/how-many-tables-fit-in-a-room

A decent cluster of restaurants is quickly building up along this part of Main that was mostly dead before.

Is this outdoor space going to flow into the "park" at Main and 7th?

Not according to the restaurant leasing brochure. If the Park Board were OK with that idea, they would have to negotiate a separate lease, (and the park is still in development, while the restaurant is already complete). It's not the same context as the restaurant in the Creekside Community Centre where the Park Board own the building, so allow the patio to extend further.

Sorry, I didn't mean "officially" but more naturally.

That seems unlikely - there's a drop in level from the patio to the current ground level in the future park, and a glazed railing that runs from front to back.

I bet there will be a ton of people grabbing takeout and a 4 pack for the park (in the summer).

There is a Taiwanese tea place opening up in small retail space under The Sovereign tower in Metrotown (corner of Kingsway/Willingdon). I think this space has been empty since the building went up so nice to see it.
