Apparently, the waiting list is also sold out.

Capped at 8000, $50 a seat per year. Good heavens these guys are making money on literally everything...

Drive to 13 website says that all tickets were sold in 17 minutes, however NHL.com says they were gone in 4 minutes.

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=564817

And my personal favorite quote from Bettman:

**"While I had no doubt the 'Drive to 13,000' would reach its destination, the remarkable speed at which it got there certifies the fans' hunger for NHL hockey and their commitment to True North's initiatives," said NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman in a statement before Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final in Vancouver.**

Might they reconsider expansion plans to the MTS centre? If they would be guaranteed to sell out maybe 3000 seats a year at 50$...they could easily finance a big 30million dollar expansion in a relatively short perioud of time...

I'm sure there's an engineering company out there that could do it for that price.

Build a winning team by third season and that barn will be a money making machine. It appears that NHL will be less of a family outing than AHL was, so beer sales alone, even at $7 per beer, will make tons of money.

At least they don't need to worry about ticket sales anymore.

It won't be a money making machine unless they up the prices. The most expensive ticket is still only 1/2 as expensive as Calgary's. They also have more than 4000 more seats and also sell out every game of the season.

congratulations though on exceeding everyone's expectations.

A bittersweet moment for me, I'm a big NHL fan, went to a good ammount of moose games each year. Now that the NHL is here, I'm not sure If I'll have better luck than last year watching any NHL games. My best bet might be to catch a Panthers game in Ft Lauderdale!

P.S. If anybody wants to unload a 1/2 or 1/3 season...give me a shout
Hmmmm... I'm hoping that not a lot of those tickets went to loser ticket scalpers. Nothing like huge pent up demand to cause those parasites to come out of the wordworks. Winnipeg fans deserve better than to have to pay inflated prices.

Didn't have a chance. I was right at the ticketmaster checkout, before I somehow screwed myself over on not enough funds in my CC.

However, my co-worker is offering me some tickets once the schedule comes out later this month, so it's okay.

This is awesome! Sold out in 17 minutes (or 4 minutes, depending on who you believe). Eat your heart out haters! This is going to be a blast!!

I guess a small compliment is expected from someone who thinks so low of Winnipeg.

This is great.

Winnipeg, you've done yourself proud. I was at the last Jets game (against Detroit) and many many Jets games before that, including the WHA, and this takes away much of the disappoinment of the Jets leaving at that time.

Honestly they could probably keep the Moose here as Winnipeg's AHL team and still make money.

Congrats Winnipeg on getting the NHL back. However I doubt the name will be the Jets. However, rumour has it that it might be called the Winnipeg (or Manitoba) Whiteout. But who knows. I personally prefer any name to include Winnipeg as opposed to Manitoba. But that's just me.

I've always said there is not a better member in the Winnipeg construction thread than flatlander, knowledgeable, enlightening, intelligent, good-looking, I could go on but you get the picture.

PS Would you be willing to part with some tickets?

Someone (well, TNSE based on the address) just trademarked the term "Whiteout" last month. Now, this could be for marketing the "white out" - or it could be a good hint at their preferred name.

I guess beneath a certain age "whiteout" doesn't automatically make you think of typewriters anymore?

Would anyone in the U.S. non-snowy areas have any clue what a "whiteout" is, other than the above-mentioned Liquid Paper?

At least the uniforms would be easy to design. Just white. The players would disappear against the background of the ice, as in a genuine whiteout.

Whiteout makes me think of snow so thick that visibility is reduced greatly. I fix errors on my typewriter with liquid paper.

And we tied an onion to our belts, which was the style at the time.
