Wait it minutes! Did El Al change the schedule? I thought they still leaves by early evening? Those passengers who doesn't like to leave from ORD by midnight. They will be very tired.

I heard early evening also but the company handling the flight said around 2300. Not sure if they know something or are wrong. I would prefer 1915!!

What a mess. Have seen several upgrades and a few reroutes via England to Europe today. I wonder if Lufthansa will have stopovers in England for a month.

No, they banned all flights to European for next 30 days. Due to coronavirus. Because of Donald Trump. He banned all flights to European.

From Chicago Aviation fans on Facebook:

The impact of COVID-19 has resulted in the following route delays/suspensions for ORD:

-Qantas to BNE will be postponed until September 2020 but cargo routes continue. Bet you didn't know Qantas had a cargo route to ORD operated by Atlas Air.
-El Al to TLV will be postponed until June 28th
-Hainan to PEK and CTU postponed until October 2020 with a possible government takeover but 747 cargo routes continue.
-American to FCO and VCE postponed until June 2020 (no updates on new routes to BUD, PRG, and KRK)

Routes will not just automatically stop today. They will continue due to Americans traveling and coming home and cargo below deck. I expect the Chicago dedicated cargo routes to also start to pick up a lot from Europe and also China as people return to work in China.

This is starting to get really interesting now. I think the government might start restricting some domestic flights also. We still have international flights coming in and that will continue due to freight and Americans coming back and passengers from unrestricted countries. I have noticed an increase in dedicated freight flights into ORD that may increase even more if they reduce international passenger aircraft flights to almost none in a few weeks. We will see if it goes that far. Stay well and safe.

Looks like China Eastern has a 777W flight to ORD today in the air and on the way. Things are starting to get better in China but I am not sure if it has any passengers. Could be just cargo in the belly.

Qatar has started A350 service to ORD replacing 777-300 aircraft. Cargo traffic is very high at ORD with Chicago being a large part of the global cargo routing's. Silkway and Air Bridge are doing some of the longer routes with 747 8F aircraft and 747 400F along with Polar Air Cargo and many Asian cargo operators.

QATAR has been operating A350-1000 aircraft into ORD for a few weeks for just cargo flights.

Emirates will have the only special US flight to Dubai from Chicago(article below).

El Al operating several cargo only 787 9 flights from ORD to Tel Aviv.

Right now the north and south cargo areas at ORD are the busiest I have ever seen them with large amounts of widebody freighters coming in. Even Delta is operating several 777 flights a day to Frankfurt Germany with cargo only(Pharma shipments).

So far British, Etihad, Qatar, Emirates, Turkish, KLM, Lufthansa, United, Delta, Aer Lingus, Japan Air, Korean Air, China East, Royal Jordanian, Cathay Pacific, Eva Air, ANA, TAP, El Al and Aero Mexico continue to fly passenger aircraft into ORD several times a week with almost only cargo onboard. That and the many dedicated cargo freighters make O'Hare a mainly widebody airport now.

Rockford is also a very busy place with UPS and Prime flights much higher than normal. Kind of funny the government gave grants to the cargo operators even though they have record amounts of private business even before the government charter flights.

Forgot also LOT and SAS several times a week just for cargo. UA and Delta have been doing special cargo only 772, 77W and 787 10 flights to Frankfurt Germany several times a day.

Yes, DL is doing it. Only cargo flight, not a schedule flight. They send more medical suppliers.

Saw what I assume was a Lufthansa 747-800 parked at T5 monday morning. . . is that unusual? Also I was unable to find non-stop flights between ORD and FRA. . . must have to do with scheduling due to the current situation. . .

Speaking of cargo, this article is almost 2 weeks old, but relevant. I thought I would share.

“This week, RFD hosted two Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) planes packed with more than 440 pallets and 300,000 pounds of medical supplies that were headed to a warehouse near Chicago for regional distribution to essential workers and patients.”

https://www.aviationpros.com/airport...-cargo-numbers

The planes that landed were Antonov An-124 Ruslan
