I still wish they hadn't scrapped Windows on the World. What is it with all these high end restaurants that screamed "New York" vanishing from the fabrick? We all know what happened with the original Windows (duh), but Tavern on the Green, the Rainbow Room near the Top of the Rock? It's rather sad...

Amazing to say the least.

I wish the mast lights up like the crane.
Talking about antennas...

I'm hearing that the first section placement has been bumped out, to the first week in Jan perhaps.

Some pictures of the pieces on the ground, catwalks and other items being added.

When it's complete it will look like any other office building in lower Manhattan. However the spire will illuminated in different colors depending on the occasion, like the Empire State Building.

So why have they pushed back the start date of the spire installation?

Don't know why construction is so slow since a few months...

Ten days since the antenna pieces are here, and they still have not yet assembled it on the rooftop.
Same with concrete base, still not covered by glass, although they had two years to do this.

The Empire State Building was the symbol of America's ambition: built in less than one year, tallest building in the world..

Will One World Trade Center be the symbol of America's skepticism?
Six years before decision to build the tower; seven years to build it (maybe eight); 4 billion dollars; recurrent decisions to reduce costs, even if it spoils the tower's silhouette (spire case); late in delays...

Only positive aspect is that there has been no mortal accident during the construction..

that's a Christmas thing. they have used different colors during construction for different calendar events. Remember red white and blue for the 4th?

But you forget that the Empire State Building was a much less complicated design, not nearly as many safety issues were brought up, they didn't have to clean up the biggest tragedy to happen to this country in history and also it was not nearly as tall as 1 WTC. Let us not forget that the original two North and South towers also took 10 years
