Use this site if you have trouble with their paywall:

The City 100% needs to obtain a independent assessment of the structure in these cases.

I would never trust the word of a developer and the consultant they retained, and probably also retained to work on the future building. Definite conflict of interest.

City: Give me a call.

man...that building should never be shown so large.

To me its all about brick....instant permanence and timelessness.....and there is really no excuse anymore....Hardie board costs $28 per square foot and brick is $35. Its not a massive difference and used wisely can have a huge impact on the building quality. I'm a total convert and am trying to use it as much as possible before it becomes expensive again.

Look at those 1960's yellow brick boxes through the corydon area....they are as plain and simple as can be, yet because they are brick, they fit in nicely. Imagine this building in random pattern hardie board on stilts with parking underneath.

also...the corydon neighbourhood needs a name. I guess its technically fort rouge? but nobody knows where that is. Should combine it with earl grey and give it a proper name....maybe even connect it with osborne village, but that has a specific connotation.

Nice. I also like brick. Here is the north interior wall of my otherwise modest West End house. It was like this when I bought it.

For me brick is timeless, love it both as an exterior material and interior.

Good point. At one point people called it Little Italy as the map still shows, but there isn't much Italian character left, to the extent that there ever really was. I mean, "Corydon Village" is not the most original but it gets the point across?

Haha, I love the mental image of someone so dedicated to their craft that they spend their time off from laying bricks by... laying more bricks!

"come to bed honey"
"I can't, I'm laying bricks"

For what it's worth, it looks awesome.

Construction fencing is now up around the parking lot opposite Happy Cooker and Nuburger at Stradbrook and Osborne.

Has anyone seen any designs for this yet? I looked on the City Clerk's website a few weeks ago but didn't find anything at the time. If I recall correctly, when the City sold the lot, it was conditional on adding residential, and the winning bidder paid much more than the City's asking price.

I know the building adjacent to it Eldorado Arms is undergoing a renovation so that may be a factor for the fencing of the site. I’m not familiar with the reclad process though and if they truly need that much space to store their materials although that parking lot would be a convenient place as any to do so.

Here's the render
