I have to say, that as much as I hate seeing trees being cut down, I think Granville street looks better without them. For a street that is unlike any other in the city, it allows for a better visual impact, and makes you take notice of it all. Coming into downtown at night over the Granville bridge is now quite impressive I find, especially when the street is wet - the whole thing glows. Bring on even more lights I say... and don't bother replanting trees with the new street redesign.
Does anybody else think that the Sears building, aka big marshmellow, would look great with ads/billboards projected onto it at night time? It's like a giant screen waiting to be used. I also think that retail units should be created on the Granville side of the Sears building, giving more life to the street in that block.
