^ Let's also not forget the symbolism in this design. The crown points down in reverence to the footprint of the Twin Towers. It's an important part of the overall cohesive WTC design.

That's the specialty here. Understandable if Silverstein himself said he may shorten the tower.

Not to mention it would overpower 1WTC with its sheer bulkiness if not for the tapering slope at the top. I have heard from many that 2WTC is their favorite tower solely because of the unique diamonds.
I agree. Aren't the diamonds suppose to work side by side with the memorial? By that, I'm referring to the reflection of light that is casted towards the two waterfalls at a certain day. I think that's why they where included, and at such precise angles too. Removing them would damage the whole symbolic nature of the project.

Did he actually say that or you mean theoretically?

? Because he's hoping there is some good new about the development, like a company leasing space and then he's disappointed because there is a bunch of useless posts. Like this one

Even if this tower is a bit shorter a flattened or less sloped roof would lessen the effect of the height reduction. If it gets built to current design and height that is fine also. I personally never liked the downward nod to the memorial because if that is the case One World Trade should have been that tower. To have the second tallest tower on the site perform that is silly.

Not as useless as this post. I suggest you visit the highrise & supertall proposals forum to get a clue on why buildings that aren't rising receive posts & save the irrelevant commentary.

How sickening... Every damn building in this complex other than 4WTC has been tampered with and bastardized. This building should just be put on hold another five years and save the embarrasment so it is at least done right in the end unlike it's neighbors. In fact, considering the so-called marval of this complex and the long wait, there could even be upgrades taken into consideration with all the time waiting, more planning could be done as well in a positive direction.

What the worry seems to be about here is the usual devolution from serious, topically germane news-tracking to complete disorganized panic over value engineering---or some other bogeyman issue---just because nothing new or constructive has been heard about this tower in roughly a week and a half.
Well, at least harmless worry-wart skyscraper enthusiasts can be proverbially led to water and made to drink...or even swim(!).
NIMBY's, on the other hand.....

There is no indication that the building is being shortened, or value engineered, or anything.

How about posting about actual stuff, instead of speculative stuff? Silverstein is marketing the site to users, and that's all we know.

I'll say this and leave it alone thence: That's why I called it (i.e. the value-engineering thing) a bogeyman issue. Some folks here seem to have cultivated this odd Jacobian need to wrestle with figments that don't exist.
