Thanks Viper--that's an amazing amount of condo-building happening...it's about time our city got some frigging residential happening. Hopefully there's enough demand to fill all those plus keep on building UP! I'm glad there's someone on top of it like you to keep all those projects organized here.

Good job SLCprojects,

However, the 40 story tower that my uncle was referencing to is not a new tower. It is one that we already know about, and its one that you have referenced on your list (hint, its the only one specificly listed as being 40 stories )

Also, wheres the cachet towers in murray proposed by Jerry McWillis?

Thanks. So you're saying that the 40-story condo Tower your uncle was talking about is the Cowboy Partner Tower 1 or Social Hall Tower?

Also are the Cachet Towers proposal still a go? I haven't heard anything about them in over a year? I was staying to think that maybe that proposal was dead.

Plan to beautify the corridor

'Grand' Vision for North Temple

With light rail coming, planners see a 'once-in-a-lifetime' chance to reshape the uninviting area

http://www.sltrib.com/news/ci_7502475?source=rv

North Temple hosts a variety of businesses and buildings. (Scott Sommerdorf / The Salt Lake Tribune)

Time for a little curbside appeal on North Temple.
A seven-lane collector street that to pedestrians approximates an SUV-age running of the bulls, Salt Lake City's western portal and airport access is hardly, or barely, walkable. Or pretty. Many neighbors complain that it's a barrier to drive past on their way to better shopping districts, so they don't even count its aging motels, check-cashing stores and fast-food joints as parts of their neighborhood.

Tom Smart, Deseret Morning News

Murray has new heartbeat

Developers line up for limited land as medical center thrives

...Will Murray become another Rochester, Minnesota (Mayo Clinic)? "You're seeing the initial stages of that," said IMC's Gomez.

Viper and Projects,

Nice work! That's the kind of stuff I would spend hours doing on scraps of paper at my dead-end jobs. ...and I always thought I was the only one in SLC that felt that way about the city. It's so nice to see other obsessed people out there--but with talent!

If even half of those projects make it to reality (and I'm betting it'll be more like 80-90% of them will), it'll transform our city. And hopefully spur even more development. They need to strike while the iron's hot, and before the economy's downturn affects things here in Utah.

Great job, guys!

North Temple's orientation and entryway into the city has a lot of potential, but it'll take a lot of scrubbing to get it presentable. And some of the people interviewed in that article, like the KOA Kampground, would probably be pushed out of there.

And if Sugarhouse is any indication, then this:

Murray will probably get bigger hotels with this than either the Salt Palace or Real Stadium will. Bring it!

You're probably right Jedi. Murray will at least get it's share.I think Murray is a perfect location, especially the new IHC mega-campus or Fashion Place also. The Proximity to the Cottonwood canyons and freeways is pretty attractive. I still can't get over the views from the East windows of the Medical Center,"they're incredible." Good location for some attractive high-rise residential towers, Mass Transit, heart of the valley, unbelievable views!!!

i e-mailed the Murray city development this year about the cachet towers. They say that development takes time. And yes, Jerry is still working hard on his towers. So, we'll see.

That a great article, it's amazing that conservative ol Utah is embracing Transit Oriented Development. I think it says alot about the community and the state in general. The fact that the only community currently investing more in Transit is Denver, which is substantially larger than SLC.

I think all these development bode well for downtown as well. While each development has some commercial it won't be self sustaining. I counted 968 housing units currently being developed around transit, and that was just those in the article. Even at a low estimate of 1.3 people per unit, that is an additional 1250 + people that have direct access to downtown without getting in a car. In my opinion that will continue to increase the demand for downtown office space.

Most of these projects aren't monumental like CCC or Market Station but they do wonders in creating more urbanism in the valley and shifting the focus slightly more toward transit.

Utah State development office is very busy and fruitful

http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn4188/is_20070719/ai_n19392544

Only a couple of years old, the Governor's Office of Economic Development has been busy and potentially fruitful -- to the tune of 10,000 new jobs from economic incentives granted to companies.

From the news paper...

"In an interview Friday, Mayor Snarr - returning from a trip to China - said that two of his recent phone messages came from individuals wanting to build hotels in the area.
"We all know they're needed, but coming up with available land resources is a challenge," Snarr said. "We're working aggressively with those individuals to help them find land."

You know what this could mean?.....Highrise hotels in Murray.
