Got it. I thought you were listing the largest hotels.

I can't recall if this is the latest rendering, but here it is:

New 1,000 room COTA Hotel & Conference Center?

https://www.bizjournals.com/austin/news/2026/04/19/hotel-cota-development-incentives.html

Incentives on table for massive hotel planned near COTA

The project would also include a new convention center with 170,000 square feet of rentable space

From the article:
Quote:
The city of Austin could provide economic incentives to boost an effort to build a massive hotel and convention center near Circuit of The Americas.

Houston-based RIDA Development Corp. plans to develop a 1,000-room hotel and 460,000-square-foot convention center, with 170,000 square feet of rentable space, next to COTA. The Austin City Council could vote at its April 23 meeting to approve an economic development agreement for the project.

According to a slideshow from Austin Economic Development, the planned capital investment for the hotel and convention center is $985 million. The project is expected to generate 900 full-time jobs and 3,800 temporary construction jobs.

I wonder exactly where this hotel & convention center will be located on the CotA grounds?

This is old, but it has a map of what was discussed once upon a time. Unsure if this latest discussion is in the same area.

Yes that is still the planned area. You will also notice some elements of the resort compond that appear to be a lazy river, small wave pool, and potentially a driving range.

That driving range has a strange resemblance to a Top Golf. It actually wouldn't be a bad idea to have a second location even if this one still feels pretty far out there - if this becomes a true year-round destination with activities throughout the week (not just major events) that could be a good place.

Circuit of the Americas is a little over 11 miles from the Texas State Capitol as the crow flies.

The Top Golf by the Domain is a little over 8.5 miles from the Texas State Capitol as the crow flies.

It's really not that far "out there" in my opinion. It's just sort of out of the way for most people. But the area is easily accessible from three major highways (130, 183, and 71), and the state has big plans to expand 812. Plus it's really close to the airport.

I think the area has a lot of potential over the coming years.

Here's the plans for FM 812, which includes a realignment at 183 so that it connects directly to William Cannon. This will be a major thoroughfare all the way out to SH 21.

Domain is ~6 miles from the metro center of population, while COTA is 14 miles from the population center. Yes, it's not like driving to SA, but it's still appreciably different (for now). Worse if you look at population in a mile radius, or 3 or 5 (which makes a difference for popping in after work for happy hour or for an hour or so on the weekend).

Isnt the population center for the metro like right next to the Domain? Any who, South Austin does need some entertainment options as well. COTA is pretty far out there for most of Austin.

COTA/Germania doesn't appeal to me. The nightmares I've heard about getting out of there after a show, how blazing hot it can get for Willie's all day picnic etc. I think it's far flung in the minds of folks whether you're in 78745 or 78759. I'm in Scofield/Metric area. If they ever overhauled 183 south of 71 and upgraded corridors into COTA area, maybe I could try it out.

Still a good ways from the Domain but heading that way. Population center of the whole MSA in 2000 in yellow, 2010 in orange, 2020 in red. No data from before 2000 but I wish there was.
