Can you guys attempt to stay on topic? World Cup bids are not related to construction of high rises.

I'm pretty sure that carwash place is closed too. The auto mechanic was the last to go.

Was by there today and the carwash was still operating but the auto body shop has moved two blocks north on Marietta. However, the Atlanta project is no longer listed on the Hard Rock Hotel site the last time I checked.

alot of midsize banks in georgia have gone belly up so its probably best to not take any project that was proposed in 2007-2008 to seriously cause their "solid" funding is gone
and on that note i recomend we talk about buildings whose roofs can be covered by fog on your regular fall morning

Any word on Aquarius or Atlantis (not The Atlantic)?

Just imagine how Luckie-Marietta would look today if not for the whole global-economy-imploding thing

Now this is definitely the nail in the coffin for the Atlanta Construction Thread... How 'bout we shut it down until everyone is finishing staring at the newly minted crack in the road on Peachtree street. Good lord...

They used the correct gender for the definite article, so maybe when I'm in the area I'll grace the place with my presence.

Yeah, that was really cool. I love that the beers are either 1/2 liter or liter just like the real thing. Hopefully they'll have live music often. Ein Zwei G'suffa

Fun!

I was driving down Decatur Street today and was shock to see how much construction is going on around the King Memorial station. In a few years and that area is going to be thriving, especially considering Marta's within walking distance. Not sure how they're fairing in this market but that area is showing no signs of slowing down.

5620 Glenridge Drive NE

I have been watching the site prep work for a site across from my office for the past few weeks. The signs are for Wood Partners and are marked 5620 Glenridge Drive NE. The site is pretty big as you can see from the picture below. The majority of the site has been cleared, save for the low-rise office. Anyone know what this project is? Hopefully it isn't another phase of the townhomes that aren't selling there to the west of the site.

Alta Glenridge Springs

The article says it will include some retail space as well.

I drove down there this weekend, and that area really has transformed. There is already a convenience store in Pencil Factory Lofts across the street, and they're adding a barber shop and possibly a small gym as well. Plus Mercy Care Services just down the street has finished doubling and revamping its space, and a large, vacant building across the street from King Memorial MARTA Station was torn down not long ago.

Word is that Georgia State is moving its Panthersville sports complex downtown within 5 years, and they're already buying more of Edgewood in the near future. This area is becoming a destination: I remember when no one got off at that Station

A new article about a project that was announced a while back:

NY hedge fund partner trying to convert Atlanta ‘red' land into green space

Drove down Howell Mill - Marietta Street - Decatur Street corridor today for the first time in a long time, and I must say I was blown away with the feel of infill and urbanity...sketchy though some of it is. You've come a long way baby.

Good thing they are building that 300 acre park nearby...
