I think this thread is turning into the Mobile Coffeehouse thread... with news thrown in periodically. I like it... because coffee rocks my world.

That's the bridge I was talking about - it actually starts at the foot of Church St - I thought this thing was basically a done deal a few years ago (see the cruise terminal still u/c in the background). I like it - breaks up the exit ramp from I-10 - we just need some cool lighting and good landscaping around the base. I don't think it is too big - looks like a sail (which is the point).

Funding has already been approved for another one - wouldn't surprise me if they are already working on it. Carnival has not stated they are bringing a new ship, but everyone else thinks they are. I would like to see Carnival replace the Holiday and then another line add a ship within three years. I say add a low rise parking garage all under I-10 (its surface parking now). Useless space anyway. Then connect it to the existing facility with a bridge.

The strange thing is that I've heard Royal Caribbean for years now and nothing concrete has come of it.

Perhaps we could add levels to the existing garage at the terminal?

That's a very impressive structure. Is there an anticipated completion date?

Could you guys refrain from posting things off topic and needless like "lol" and "cool" in this thread? If you have some information you'd like to share or you have something to say, say it, but please please stop flooding this important thread about Mobile's development with useless garbage. Thank you.

Good suggestion. Better watch yourself or you might get nominated for a moderator position...

Sorry that we hurt your feelings, but I was not aware that we were not allowed to post the acronym LOL.

???Okay, NOT the best paint job, but you have to admit, the color DOES liven it up!!!
I guess what I meant before was that they need to use more color. It doesn't have to be CRAZY, but I mean COME ON!
Just look at the Cruise Terminal....This is one of those structures that comes to be a calling card of a city...sometimes even a symbol. Sure, it SEEMS like just another pedestrian bridge, but look deeper...I'm gonna leave it at that
