A good all night soaking rain er, continuing on until midnight. Accumulations of up to 55mm. We will take what we can. This seems to cover most of the province so the fire risk drops significantly. Temps go back up to mid 20s by the weekend.

Similar system to that of the 2013 system that pushed into Alberta from the Southeast and stalled against the foothills and flooded Canmore/Calgary/High River. Dont think we will have the same issues this time, just interesting.

A bit late on this but here are the April stats for Ottawa. Ave High: 12.6C Ave Low: 1.0C
Highest High: 22.2C Lowest Low: -4.4C. Pretty much bang on average for a typical April after an exceptionally warm winter and March.

Several weeks ago I mentioned that I stumbled upon another abandoned car down in a valley. But I was at the top and didn't have time to go down to check it out to see if I could get it running again. Today I ventured down and unfortunately, she's a write off.

Sixteen Mile Creek itself is in a big valley. Where I went today is the narrower valley to the south with whatever that creek is there, which is not visible on the map. I followed that valley until it met up with Sixteen Mile Creek.

Like the other abandoned car I saw a couple months ago on the other end of town, also at the bottom of a valley, this appears to be from the 60's or early 70's.

For some reason, there were about a dozen tires down there. And I was only traversing down there for about 15-20 minutes. Would like to know how people got their hands on all these tires. I imagine that kids were rolling them down from the top of the valley, where a trail and houses exist now. I wonder if there was a salvage yard there at some point decades ago.

There was also a lot more junk present than I photographed.

Very nice day, 20 and sunny most of the day; though starting to cloud over now.

Cooler for the next few days; and rainy. After that, we look to be back to around seasonal. A pretty uneventful May that will probably finish around average. Although, you can get those random heat waves at the end of the month.

7 day: 22/12/15/14/17/19

Decent day, a bit gusty with a high of 19.8. It clouded up around supper and I thought my ball game might get rained out, but nothing. Now severe thunderstorms are imminent

Another barge got loose in the wind and almost ran aground at Sunset Beach again.
It was heading for the same spot that Marge the Barge got stuck back in late 2021.

Some quick action by the Coast Guard and some tugs got it under control again and towed it back out to where it came from.

The disagreement between weather models for St. John's next week is wild. There's about a 15 degree temperature difference between GFS and GDPS.

Thanks for sharing that megadude. I really love those valleys in Halton region....its always a wonder what you can find down in a river valley.

I forgot to share these yesterday, but things are really blooming now that spring weather is out here in the GTA. I took these by my old stomping grounds in Mississauga

Went for a walk at Rondeau earlier

I would like that EDM forecast right about now. Was supposedly warm today but the wind meant it wasn't actually what the thermometer was saying. And the weekend coming up is kinda trash. Probably have to wait till May two four to go up north.

Harls and generalLee like garbage too, huh? Lol. I actually am disappointed when I go for a walk and don't find rubbish. Well, if I find fish in the river then that's even better and all I need. I have never been a hiker and not much of an outdoorsman. I've never taken a walk just to take in nature. That's more like a byproduct. Even when I was in the Rockies and Colorado Plateau and the red sands of Arches NP and Moab, the longest walk I did was like 15 minutes.

Rubbish, a few creatures, a twisted up tree and some fish in the water is good for me.

Today I went to the same river as yesterday morning. It rained a little bit overnight, but that can't explain why the river today, only a couple kms upstream from where I was yesterday, is chocolate milk. Yesterday was clear. Last Friday, at a different spot, was semi clear. Today, just totally murky. And I went there to go see if carp were schooling so I could report back and me and a couple neighbours could go there soon to fish, drink some brews and just kick it. Lots of frogs though on the bank of the river.

This spot is the old stretch of Fourth Line that is cut off. Which is the case in at least three spots, with one of those being in Milton and the other two in Oakville. It's where decades ago a potato truck wiped out on the bridge and fell into the river. Now you park at the top of the road, walk down the former road, cross the new pedestrian bridge, then walk up the curved former road to the top of the valley and it becomes a proper road again.
