Potentially New apartment building to be built not to far from Jones Lake

also old Nissan lot, and I believe the Honda lot as well seem to both be for sale. For Commercial use (potentially not another car dealership)

Hope to see at least some if not all of these projects. What projects will be done is a question.
The old Nissan is already home to Rallye Chrysler. Neither building is for sale. There is a lot in front of Rallye Chrysler that is for sale, but it is rather small.

The new expanded front section of Navigator's fronting Main Street is now open. The Main Street signage however still hasn't been installed, so it still looks very incomplete.

I looked into it farther turns out it's a lot on Ivan Rand Drive but it's not the Rally dealer but the Massive paved lot next door to it. There is also that small lot in front for sale as well.

Oh okay I didn't realize the big lot was for sale too!

The old Needs Convenience store at the corner of John Street and High Street is now a animal clinic. It will be home to Dr Kim Maillet from Elmwood Vet Hospital.

That may actually be a great location for a vet. The closest one to that area, I believe, is the Animal Hospital on West Main.

I will stick with Elmwood Vet since it's close to me but wish Dr. Maillet well because she is great. Treated my doggie a coupla times. Excellent care and great personality. A caring doctor in my experience.

The building being built downtown was to have a patio then it wasn't, but the windows being installed on the second floor (sorry for the bad photo, I was balancing a coffee) are sliding doors not windows so does that mean there will be a patio? Although at this point in the construction you would think you would see the structure for the patio if there was to be one.

Anyone know what -- if anything -- is planned at Fleet & Bonaccord? A large house was recently demolished there, which isn't unusual (in fact, another one on Robinson, near Lutz, was being demolished this morning). What's intriguing is that this particular lot is fenced in with Acadian Construction signs posted.

If it's the large building on the South West Corner The demolition was because of the fact the building needed way to much work to keep it livable. I think there might have been a duplex demolished on Fleet street as well.

If it is the same project that is being built there was a plan for an apartment building on that corner.

The previous plans was by a developer who planned on buying all the land on Bonaccord from McAllen to Fleet, and all the way down Fleet to 42-44, and all the way down McAllen on the North side, and build a building like the one at Archibald/Victoria. So I'm wondering if that is not what is happening.

Size and location of new Moncton RCMP detachment undecided
New building is expected to be occupied by September 2020
By Kate Letterick, CBC News Posted: Jun 09, 2017 7:00 AM AT|
Last Updated: Jun 09, 2017 7:00 AM AT

Quote:
The size and location of a new detachment for the Codiac RCMP is still up in the air, according to a new report.

An update on the process was presented Thursday night by the building committee at a meeting of the Codiac Regional Policing Authority.

Moncton city council voted in April to approve Bird Construction/Terra Trust, Ellis Don Corporation and the Ashford Group as the bidders for the contract on the new building.
Quote:
"The RCMP are submitting their views on the size and shape of the space, right down to what size are the offices, what common space do we need what meeting space do we need?" he said.

"We'll check that against the previous MHPM previous information we have and using some professional assistance we'll test and pull and tug at those numbers and make sure we have an accurate view of the size and shape not only for what we need tomorrow but what we need in 15 or 20 years into the future."

MacLellan added that the cost of the project is also not etched in stone. The estimated price tag is $45 million.
Quote:
As for the location of the new detachment, Savoie said no decision was made.

That's part of the request for proposals, he said.

"The proponents … propose certain sites and they get evaluated as all the other elements."

The report said construction will begin in September 2018 and the building is expected to be occupied by September 2020.
The highlighted text is all mine.

As I suggested before, if you read between the lines, and given Bird/Terra's interest in the MHS site, I think it becomes blatantly obvious that Bird/Terra is proposing the MHS site as the location for the new Codiac RCMP headquarters. It's because they don't want to tip their hand to their competitors (for the RCMP project) that they are being so circumspect on their MHS proposal. Regardless, in my opinion, Bird/Terra's proposal for MHS is likely for the RCMP HQ alone, would entail wholesale demolition and would not protect the auditorium or the gymnasium. That's not in their mandate. They're only interested in the RCMP building.........

Looks like you're right, CBC just reported they've learned from sources that Bird-Terra's proposal is indeed for a relocated RCMP headquarters.

Pictures of the master plans for DT development :

1) Master Plan

2) Pedestrian (top half) and cycling plans

3) Business district. Top half shows an image of a building combining the Farmer's Market (street level) and the Library.

4) "Green Belt"/Waterfront Park

5) New residential sector

6) "West Interface"

7) "North Interface" or Queen street residential densification

I was there this morning. Missed the first part of the presentation, but don't be shy to ask any questions. I'll try my best to answer.

If even half of this transpires in my lifetime (another 20-25 years), I'd be a very happy man.

And in other news - the signage for the new GoodLife in the Junction Village development was installed today. Also, the roadway (Ivan Rand Drive) was paved today too.

I'm torn. It's a good-looking urbanization plan in theory but I feel it's too suburban in spots, especially in the residential renders.

Also trees. Lots of trees.

If this is what they envisage for a relocated Moncton Market on Downing Street, then this is fabulous.

I really want Downing Street to feel urban, and this plan preserves the massing I was expecting along this important corridor connecting Main Street and City Hall to the riverfront.

The look of the market brings to mind the Seaport Farmers Market in Halifax (except for the seaport part).

It's very modern in appearance, incorporated well into the streetscape, and also connected to the taller buildings in behind. With the library across the street, and Assumption Place in behind, it really does a lot to improve connectivity in the core. Note also the outdoor kiosks and the food trucks.

A new market here would be a roaring success.........

Am I the only one who looks at the plan and thinks 'What city is this?'. ALC should be taking bets on the % they complete in this downtown development because we'll be lucky to see a fraction of that. And even by some crazy twist of faith their vision becomes reality, we'll be paying for it in taxes for the rest of our lives.
