Affordability
attracted this Toronto homebuyer to Regina despite tight market
The benchmark price of homes in Regina — based on the expected price of similar home types — has stayed around $100,000 below prices in Saskatoon, according to Chris Guérette, chief executive of the Saskatchewan Realtors Association (SRA).

Good for Regina more people will come here 100,000. There’s a lot of money when you have a mortgage.
The concern was partially addressed last month as Dream Developments officially began construction on Coopertown. The long-term plan for the northwest neighbourhood includes 8,000 single-family homes and 6,000 multi-family units.

The Queen City has drawn interest from across Canada as families like the Reids explore more affordable options. RBC noted that Regina was the lone city that saw home prices rise from April to June compared to January-March, making it a little less affordable but still ranking ahead of Canada’s main cities.

Regina partners presenting budgets:
On Wednesday, the Regina Public Library (RPL), Economic Development Regina (EDR), and Provincial Capital Commission will each present their budget ask for 2026-27.

For the RPL, they’ve requested a mill rate increase of 3.85 per cent for 2026, and 4.33 per cent in 2027.

The RPL’s five-year 5.5 per cent dedicated mill rate to help cover the library’s Central Branch renewal project will also kick in for 2026, meaning the average home owner will pay an additional $19.82 for 2026 and $20.70 in 2027.

By Jacob Bamhour
Oct 19, 2025 | 5:35 PM
The Regina Thunder left no doubt in Sunday’s Prairie Football Conference (PFC) semifinal, rolling over the Edmonton Huskies 49–10 at Leibel Field and punching their ticket to the conference final at Mosaic Stadium.

It was a complete team performance on both sides of the ball. Quarterback Jackson Harnett, facing his former team, ran for two touchdowns, including a 94-yard score that brought the Thunder sideline to its feet.

The 32 million dollar Dewdney Avenue Revitalization Project is nearing completion! Another block of sidewalk and street work and the installation of the full set of streetlights on our corner (complete with pedestrian crossing) and the beautified street should be good to go! How much longer will it take? We’re hearing some time next month! It’s a race against the snow. Let’s go, go, go! #bushwakkerbrewpub #inconvenientlylocatedondewdney #seeyqr

Tailgating return could ‘reignite’ Regina’s tourism and hospitality

By Jacob Bamhour
Oct 24, 2025 | 6:05 AM
The province’s plan to bring tailgating back to Rider game days is drawing praise across Regina’s business and tourism sectors, with local leaders calling it a long-awaited win for fans and the city’s economy.

The change, announced in this week’s Speech from the Throne, will officially allow pre-game tailgating at Mosaic Stadium starting in 2026. The idea of sanctioned fan gatherings outside the stadium has been discussed for years, and many in the city say it’s about time it became a reality.

Rider Nation is legendary and Saskatchewan’s winning bid was an unmistakable reflection of this incredible fanbase, filled with passion, celebration, a strong sense of community and of course, a deep love of Canadian football. We look forward to seeing the entire province come together and open its arms to fans from coast to coast to coast, while showcasing the green and white pride of the prairies!” said CFL Commissioner Stewart Johnston.

Jack Rabbit was designed by U of R alumni and artist Brian McArthur with the help of 14 students in the school's ceramics art class, faculty, and members of the Regina and Area Potters Guild.

“I think it's a really great aspect to be able to share the development of the project and that experience of making,” said McArthur.

What to know about Shaun Semple's pursuit of new baseball stadium for Regina Red Sox
"I'd love to see that one kick-start sometime in the new year, but we need to work through the details with the city."

Brandt CEO Shaun Semple wants to see movement on a new baseball stadium in Regina — possibly as soon as 2026.

Semple first expressed interest this past summer when he announced an agreement to purchase the Western Canadian Baseball League’s Regina Red Sox, whose previous owners had been pursuing a new downtown stadium.

At a recent media event for his latest entertainment venture, Queen City Distillers, Semple confirmed that his deal to buy the collegiate-level club had successfully closed in October.
The Red Sox have long sought to upgrade their facilities at the aging Currie Field, and Semple hopes to see the current proposal move forward soon.

“That’s the next evolution,” he said after announcing a new corporate arm, Brandt Sports and Entertainment, which includes the distillery as well as ownership of the Red Sox and Regina Pats.

While he would not commit to a location preference, Semple did say the former CP railyard — also known as the Yards — in Regina’s Warehouse District is still “one of the sites” on his radar for a new ballpark.

“I’d love to see that one kick-start sometime in the new year, but we need to work through the details with the city,” Semple said. “We hope to know more about that in the future.”

Genesis Fertilizers Limited Partnership plans to construct a $2.89-billion production and distribution SuperCentre near Belle Plaine that could produce 1.128 million tonnes annually. Construction will likely start in 2027, while the plant should be operational by 2029.

By establishing an ammonia urea fertilizer manufacturing complex near Belle Plaine, Genesis Fertilizers aims to reduce farmers’ reliance on imports and high freight costs and ensure a consistent and affordable supply of fertilizer in Western Canada. Also, the plant’s profits will return to farmers.

https://www.moosejawtoday.com/local-...-says-11448801

The company is looking for funding of $400 million from farmers, $200 million from investors or companies, $500 million to $700 million from the provincial and federal governments and the rest from other grant-providing organizations.
